This is the first CD that Inkubus Sukkubus released, I must say it too my breath away, Candia's voice pierced every nerve ending and place shivers through my spine, not to mention the lyrics, each song like a story. Inkubus also possess the qualities to play their music in different styles as well so there is something for everyone, I would most certainly recommend this to anyone and once you have listened to one CD you will certainy be back for more. A definate buy ! Sam

Give to me the Gift of Flight..., 19 Mar 2007
This review is from: Belladonna & Aconite (Audio CD)
This is Pagan Goth band Inkubus Sukkubus' debut album, originally released in 1993 (when they were still spelled "Incubus Succubus"). When I first heard this album, I thought "why did I but this", every song sounded very similar, the tunes weren't all that good and it just generally didn't seem very good. Nonetheless, I played it again, and this time thought "yeh, this is better than I thought". The third time I played it I saw that every song was very differant, and yet all similar, which really added to the whole concept of an album. The songs had good tunes, some very catchy. By the end of the day I had played it four times. The next day I played it a further three times. It really is terrific.
I think it is also really cleverly put together. Each song is unique, but they all have similarities which bind it together as an album. The opening song is "Beltain" and the closing song is "Samhain". These are two pagan festivals that are opposite each other on the wheel of the year. It is saying that this is almost a half years worth of album. And you know what, it is!

I heard Inkubus Sukkubus by accident on Web-radio one day ...and it was one of those rare life-altering events. I was a pure Rock n' Roll Guy for most of my life, but hearing the pristinely pure and yet somehow tormented voice of the incredibly beautiful and obscenely talented lead singer Candia, I was hooked. Some say that a picture is worth a 1000 words... well tangentially, I say this woman's voice cannot be described in words...it simply left me speechless... I bought all their albums (imports included) within the week and have told everyone I know... I am planning a trip to the UK just so I can see them perform...They are just that good...
What Makes Inkubus Sukkubus so amazing are their lyrics and instruments are fantastic as well...so there is much more to this band than the stunningly hot and super-cool lead singer who I now feel like praising all over again... (Man she is so talented its makes it even more of a sin that Brittany spears is famous and Candia is not...) But back to the band... They really are amazing... They experiment with different production techniques and sounds so that no two songs are the same despite all having a strong pagan/wiccan influence... You can download some of their songs from their Website... please give them a try... you wont be disappointed...
I cannot over-emphasize how much you need to buy this album (and all the other Inkubus Sukkubus Albums) If you are a young Goth you likely have them already... but even white collar lawyer-schmucks like me can benefit from the mind expanding experience this bands music provides...I thought I was clever before...but I have learned so much from this band... My life has been changed for the better... and yours will be too if you let this goddess sing for you...
Thanks for everything Inkubus Sukkubus... Blessed Be!

Inkubus Sukkubus is one of my FAVOURITE bands. They are absolutely wonderful, and I listen to them EVERY DAY. I was thrilled to have stumbled upon them. Since then, I have shared their enchantment with a few friends who also agree they are fantastic.
HOWEVER, with utmost respect to the group, this is not one of their best albums. I find myself only listening to two songs on here: Samhain and Belladonna. Many of the songs sound similar to one another, without their usual unique ring to them. I STRONGLY encourage you to check out a different album of theirs. Personally, I enjoy "Wild" - it is much more true to how good they really are. If you have never heard Inkubus Sukkubus before, check out the "Wytches & Vampyres: The Best of Inkubus Sukkubus" album - you'd be getting the Belladonna & Aconite song on there, too!
