The Belkin N Wireless Router uses the Wireless N protocol to provide an ultra-fast and reliable wireless network for your apartment or office. Offering outstanding performance, this router can handle the most demanding tasks, letting you stream HD video at the same time your kids are playing online games and sharing photos with their friends.
Connecting the N Wireless Router to your cable or ADSL modem lets you share your broadband Internet account with all your networked computers. Now you can quickly and efficiently exchange documents, share resources, and stream digital music throughout your network
Smart Design with Wired and Wireless Connections
The Wireless N Router has a striking, vertical enclosure that is both handsome and space efficient. The two built-in external antennas provide a wireless range of up to 1,200 feet and easily covers an apartment or small office. Six LEDs for Security, Wireless, Wired, Router, Modem, and Internet let you know the status of your network at a glance, making it easy to troubleshoot any problems.
Wireless N uses the latest 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology, offering better range and throughput than 802.11g and 802.11b networks. By using smart MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) antenna technology, the range of a Wireless N network is extended and can blanket a large home.
With wireless speeds of up to 300Mbps, you won't be waiting for videos to buffer or music to download because your children are playing online games. Wireless N provides more than enough bandwidth to make crystal-clear Internet phone calls, transfer a large amount of photos, and stream movies to your computer without any lag or hiccups.
You can also share networked peripherals such as a Wi-Fi printer, hard drives, and DVDs. If you have some computers that use the older wireless standards, they'll still work because the Wireless N router is backwards compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b devices (though they won't connect at the same blistering speed). For maximum speed and range, Belkin's N Wireless USB Adapter, Notebook Card, and ExpressCard adapter are recommended.
In addition to Wireless N, the router also has four 10/100 Ethernet ports at the back, giving you the option to plug in for a steady and secure, fast connection running at up to 100Mbps.
Thanks to the strong built-in security, including support for WPA, WPA2, Wi-Fi Protected Setup, and 64-and 128-bit WEP encryption, you will be protected from hackers and intruders trying to gain access to your sensitive files. Setting up security is simple, too: just push the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button located on the front of the router. The router also supports VPN for making secure connections between home and office.
Easy to Set Up
Belkin designed the Wireless N Router to be as simple to use as possible. Simply connect your wireless router to your cable or DSL modem, plug the router in, and connect your computer to the router. That's it. To help monitor your network performance and usage, the router includes Personal Network Assistant software, which runs on Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X 10.4/10.5.
This router also comes with Easy Setup Assistant and troubleshooting with Network Status Display. This Network Status Display shows the status of your network. The icons represent each component of your network and show you whether or not each device is working properly.
The Belkin N Wireless router is backed by a 1-year warranty and includes free 24/7 technical support.

Does what it should and easy to set up,

I like products that work as described. I really don't like surprises and there is no need for excitement. It is either fit for purpose or it isn't!I do not comment on the service and delivery from Amazon because this is a product review. But yes, as usual, it was delivered within 2 days and packaged well without being too well packaged. I have always been impressed and very happy with the service from Amazon. It took me preceisely 10 minutes to unpack and read the instructions. Another few minutes to connect up and switch everything off and then back on. Worked first time with my main server plus any laptops in the house. I had a small issue with my Sony BD player but I think it was due to the fact that I like to keep the router security on and invisible to would be hackers, pingers or illicit users. I then used the push button security with the blue ray player and it connected. Streaming videos is so much better, smooth, consistent and no stuttering or juddering or waiting for the buffer to refresh. The speed and range is greatly improved and will be especially noticeable if you have a large 3 storey house. I just really like things that work as designed and advertised and are easy to setup and convenient to use. No surprises, no excitement - it just works as it should and does not presume any technical knowledge (although I feel anyone who uses a computer and/or a network should do some research and acquire some knowledge first - especially in understnading security). The web client interface also makes it really easy to change settings. It just has to have 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10.

Wireless router for CABLE modems. Ridiculously easy to set up and works well with PS3,

This review is from: Belkin N Wireless Router with Simple Security Set up (F5D8236uk4) (Electronics)
After my cheap and nasty old wireless router was hacked, I spent a while researching which wireless router would be best, and I picked this one. I am so glad I did! It really is simple! Some people seem to be getting a bit confused, so to help out here is some info:This is a wireless router only. To use this you will need cable broadband such as Virgin and a wired modem. No cable? No work. No wired modem? No work. There is a model for ASDL though - but this is the cable model. Firstly, you get a very simple step-by-step guide to plugging it all up. I did it no problem and I have never plugged up a router before, in fact my husband does all the plugging up. You do get a nice, yellow ethernet cable too that is just the right length for connecting it to your modem. Once it is all plugged up, put the CD in the bay. Follow the super mega MEGA easy set up instructions. It is point and click. All you need to do is select from the drop down menus your country, your ISP or similar then choose a name for your network. The software then auto-checks and ticks everything and after a few minutes, your network is ready. At this point, you can check your other devices to see if it finds your network. I didn't bother though, I went straight to the next tab. Once the above bit is done, click the security tab. Then from the three options, choose your level of security. There is a 'no security' option - although who would choose that?, then WEP (I think) then the highest one, which I think was WPA 2 which is the one I chose. After the last time I was taking no chances. Once you have chosen your security level, you will be asked to put in a password. I used a mix of lower case, capitals, spaces and punctuations and random letters. Then it gave you the option to print it, so I did. The software also gives you options for trouble shooting in case some of your devices don't work, so at this point I went over to my PS3 and connected it without any problems whatsoever. It found my network, I put in the password and bingo! I am wireless. So I shut down the software and got on with using my PS3 online! I also put my password in a very safe place, because I would not be able to remember it should I wish to connect it to a laptop if ever I decide to get one. Now considering my PS3 is practically two rooms away which includes two walls, getting a signal between 80% and 100% was pretty good! So no issues with coverage then. Oh but when I sat in front of the PS3 I lost 5% - must be because it had to get through my big bum. Honestly, I am so pleased with this router and I can't see why anybody would encounter problems setting it up. If a person is capable of using Amazon and buying and reviewing products they should be able to set up this router with the easy instructions and a bit of common sense. You don't need to log in to any complicated set up pages, you just connect everything up and use the CD. It really is 'simple security set up'. I guess there will always be a handful of unlucky people who have issues or get a faulty one, but if you are not sure I say go for it. Especially if you want to hook up your consoles as I have heard they can be notoriously problematic, but I had no problems and got no signal drop out and there was no lag. Even though my husband was playing online, the internet did not bog down. If anything, it seemed to speed up a bit. I am very, very happy with my Belkin router. And as routers go, it looks OK and the LED's are a nice, relaxing blue. Works almost like a soothing night light.

This review is from: Belkin N Wireless Router with Simple Security Set up (F5D8236uk4) (Electronics)
On Windows 7: The automatic set-up program failed to worked; everything went fine until the checking the internet connection which failed. It all went downhill from there: the push-button didn't work, the PIN code didn't work, I couldn't connect by Blackberry... However, I am used to setting up wifi routers so I accessed the web interface and did every thing from there. Now if works fine. It's a shame the 'Simple Security Set Up' didn't deliver!!
