Dont just hear one side of the coin.....this is a great device for Windows XP...easy installation and fool proof, ive used it for a long time. But i am now running it on Windows Vista for about 2 months, it wouldn't install off the cd...i had to go to my Windows Old (Vista creates this when i upgraded it keeps all of your old files/programs) then i copied and pasted all the Belkin folder contents into the new directory that was created when i tried to install from the cd....worked....not ideal but it doesn't say Vista compatible anyway. Bottom line= if you have Windows XP get it. IF you have Vista DONT.....its that simple.
....hmm its been a while...its now July 2009 and this device is still working on my Vista.....i still don't get the bad reviews i still haven't had a problem with it....maybe i am just lucky enough to get a good one.....or maybe i just know what i am doing :) anyway...its a moot point now...as i going to upgrade to the N wireless adapter. My advice now is, if you cant get this puppy running, you should stick to Rj45/ CAT 5 cables :P well i just have to quickly update. its January 2011....and yes....im still using it haha...i was going to get N but i thought why bother as this is still working. Plus...im using Windows 7 and still no problems. Im baffled by the reviews here...whether is technical knowledge which is stopping people using it or not.i have no idea...but i guess belkin should make a wireless adapter that anyone can use..and not just someone with a little knowledge to sort out a problem. On an added note....i dont use the belkin software for this product. Im using the Windows operating system to handle it....maybe that is the problem a lot of people are having.

Worked for a week and then stopped altogether,

This adapter installed fine under XP and ran faultlessly for 48hrs and then intermittently for a couple more days but then stopped working altogether after a week!!. Tried to install on another PC and different network just to make sure it was not a fault on the PC or router. Adapter was as dead as a Dodo!!
Returned for refund from Amazon (Thank you) and probably will never buy another Belkin product again.

i will back the other good review , i have been using one of these adapters for about two years, never had a problem with it at all, has been excellent and easy to use. therefore about to buy another one
