Not much to be said - does what it says on the tin. Plugged it in, PC recognized it immediately and 30 secs later I was sync'ing away with my IR devices.
Initially installed it on a Win XP system which worked just fine, then upgraded to Win 7 with no problems.

Amazon Verified Purchase
My printer connection is with IR - 'old school' I know! But it works. Changed O/S to Windows 7 and I lost print facility, couldn't get the old IRDA to work, incompatable with Windows 7. The Belkin SmartBeam worked straight out of the box, problem solved. From the look of the box from the supplier this must have been in the 'arc' store room covered in a thick layer of dust - who cares, good price, good result.
I had a laptop that had IR built in. The laptop is now no more and my new one has no IR and runs Windows 7. I still have a requirement to upload my Polar HRM files into Polar's Precision Performance software. I didn't want to buy Polar's own IrDA as it's vastly over-priced and reviews indicate that its reliability is poor.
So for all you Polar users...
1. Polar Precision Software works on Windows 7
2. This IrDA works on Windows 7
3. 1 and 2 above work with each other, and with the Polar S625X HRM
Similar to the other reviewer with the dust laden box, the product packaging, as delivered, had seen better days but this is entirely cosmetic. The product is clearly new and unused but seems to have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for some time. Frankly though I don't care, the price is good, you get a little USB cable for added convenience and it works with Windows 7 (just plug it into your USB and you're good to go). Compare this with the much more expensive, flaky and incompatible alternatives. Get one before the stock is exhausted for good!
