I have experimented with quite a few USB hubs and found all of them lacking in some aspect or the other. This one (Belkin 2.0 7-port) connected up without any problem and is able to take any USB attachment. Currently I have a mouse, keyboard, pair of usb-speakers, a bluetooth dongle, a tv tuner and an external hard drive all working at the same time off the hub, connected to my laptop, and I still have room for one more appliance. The two ports on the top surface are very handily placed and the whole unit is compact and attractive.The indicator lights are re-assuring that all is well. I am very pleased with this purchase and can unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and good-looking usb hub.

I've had two of these hubs and while they look great, work with Windows and OSX and are really handy to use, with the two top ports, they have a fundamental design flaw: overheating. Both units have burnt out on me and are now useless. Dead, as in, never coming back. The first one got hot and blew within five days, which Amazon kindly replaced. The second one worked fine for about six months and then got very hot and blew out. Both times the units were on the surface of a standard office desk not stacked or surrounded by anything else. My own opinion is that the casing is too slim and too low to the desk, not allowing enough air to get in under the unit to cool it, since it's the bottom that gets very hot (too hot to touch).
So, great idea, great layout of ports, fantastically compatible with other hardware but ruined by a design flaw. Belkin, if you're listening, please raise the height of the unit off the desk a little more. I won't be buying another one in its present configuration.

I bought this to replace my cheap 4 port hub as I now have about 5 or 6 USB devices connected at any one time.

Belkin USB hub
Exactly what I needed. There are not enough USB ports on a desktop and this has it's own power and can take the dongle too.

Disappointment
Did not work properly on connecting up, and Belkin support is impossible (deliberately?)to use!
