This iPod holder fits perfectly in my 2004 Honda Jazz SE cup holders. Various sizes of cup are supplied, so hopefully one is bound to fit (touch wood!). It secures the iPod by means of a suction cup that clings to the back of the iPod. If you have an iPod case, such as the Napa leather case, then this needs to be removed before using the Tunedok so that the suction cup can properly & securely grip the iPod.

The docking port of the iPod is accessible through the L-shaped lower part of the Tunedok, which allows for the connection of the iPod charging cable (to the car's cigarette lighter). Unfortunately, the Griffin iTrip does not fit through this same slot due to the short connector on the iTrip rather than a fault with the design of the Tunedok. However, if you first insert the iTrip then pop the iPod/iTrip combination into the holder then the suction cup still does its job & all is well. I can 100% recommend this iPod holder & it's certainly better than having your iPod sliding about on the dashboard or on the passenger seat!

Belkin also make the OmniDock car mobile phone holder, which looks & fits much like the Tunedok, but has quick release clamps instead of a suction cup to hold the phone. The two Belkin holders do look rather good side-by-side :-) Do be aware that little `clam shell' phones, such as the Samsung A800, may not be very securely held due to their small size.

The Tunedok & Omnidock can be converted into stand-alone iPod & mobile phone holders, respectively, which can be used on your desk, etc: just unscrew the cup, turn it upside down, insert the screw neck & there you have it.

Works great with my iCarPlay unit... 16 Oct 2004
By P. Summersgill - Published on Amazon.com
I bought the Belkin TuneDok last week in preparation for a long road trip with my iPod and my newly purchased iCarPlay from Monster Cable. I was a bit concerned that the TuneDok might not allow the iCarPlay's cable to plug into the bottom of the iPod, but the hole at the bottom of the cradle is big enough. The suction cup at the back of the cradle keeps the iPod from moving around, and the cradle itself is adjustable for different angles depending on the location of your cup holder. All in all a great accessory for iPod fans.

Very handy for using the iPod in your car 16 Aug 2004
By P. Forget - Published on Amazon.com
This is a real simple product. Just place it in your cup holder (it comes with three sizes to choose from), and place the iPod unit into it. A suction cup keeps the unit in place.

It does a fine job holding the iPod steady when you are using the menu. Nice and balanced. You can place the iPod at an angle or keep it flat. I prefer keeping it flat.

Not much more to say other than the price is reasonable at $17.99 (as of August 16th).

iCarPlay and 60 GB iPod Photo don't play well with tunedok! 12 Mar 2005
By J. Ballard - Published on Amazon.com

I bought an iCarPlay along with my new iPod Photo 60 GB and I thought this would be a great addition for my car to go along with the iCarPlay.

After reading the review that said it worked fine with the iCarPlay, I bought it. Now that I have it, it doesn't work with the "thicker" 60 GB iPod photo. I shouldn't say it doesn't work, it does put quite a bit of stress (more than I will allow) on the dock port when it is firmly suction-cupped into place with the iCarPlay unit inserted into the dock port. I had visited Belkin's site to ensure compatibility and they said that it would work (just not with an iPod mini).

So to get it to work with the larger, 60 GB iPod Photo will require an unnatural act performed with a hacksaw (remove the little piece that goes across, leaving only the two pieces that stick out to support the iPod from falling). That should solve the problem and at the same time, void the warranty...Bummer, but for the current price, I'm more worried about potential problems with my iPod than this unit.

This is my only gripe and it is very specific. To even encounter this problem, you'd have to use this product, the Monster iCarPlay unit and a 60 GB iPod Photo (the only one that is currently this thick). If you are using anything else (like a smaller form-factor iPod), then you won't have this problem.

Everything else about the unit is great. I was worried about the suction cup at first, but it appears to hold the iPod with no problems at all. Nice work Belkin.
