The back of the stand is aluminium and interior is made of solid rubber ensuring that your device doesn't slide around. The groove at the bottom is deep enough to ensure your device doesn't slide off once placed on the stand, but not deep enough to make it awkward to use buttons on the device. The bottom is quality plastic and small rubber feet prevent sliding on slippery surfaces.
The price, even at £19.99 is well worth it. You get a versatile and well built stand that makes the all plastic ones feel like junk. This thing will last for years of use.
Belkin do themselves a disservice by describing this as an iPad stand, as it is much more widely useful than many of the other iPad stands I've seen, due to its solid, compact design. I don't even own an iPad, but I do have a Kindle, an Archos 70 Android tablet, a PSP, a Cowon X7 media player and a Nokia smartphone - and the Belkin FlipBlade is a great accessory for all of them. Unlike other, more complicated stands with fold-out feet, vertical hinges or A-shaped frames (which often can't support narrower or lighter devices like the Kindle or a smartphone) this one simply sits very firmly on the surface and holds the device in a central non-slip channel. Therefore, it doesn't matter how wide (side to side) the device is, as long as its thickness front-to-back is less than 1.5cm, the Flipblade will hold it firmly. The front lip of the channel is less than 0.5cm deep, so it doesn't get in the way of the device screen.
The folded FlipBlade is a solid little object with a catch underneath - press this and the stand slowly unfolds and moves back into position by itself. The hinge feels robust and the action is very smooth. The major weakness of the device is also its strength - it only has one position so there's no variation of viewing angle, but on the other hand it can't slip, break or go anywhere once it's in position.Read more ›
Alloy material matches the back of the ipad, looks brilliant open or closed. Its compact when closed and stable when open (neat subtle rubber feet).
I saw this in Harrods ages ago but it was £30 and I regretted ever since that I didn't buy it, a bargain now at half that price.
The only downsides I can think of are that it only allows viewing at one angle (but its a good one anyway) and in with the ipad in portrait mode you can't plug in the power lead.
Suits not only my iPad, but iPhone and Kindle too. NB - this includes cases/covers. Pretty sure I could find other candidates too.
Folded it's small enough to make it portable, but I think I'll get another for the office too. Very pleased.
PS. Amazon service was spot on, delivered next day, well packaged.
There's no dock or charger here, it's just a handy stand for proping up your tablet device, whatever it may be.
I use it to stand the device in while I charge it over night, still needed my chargin cale so thought why get a special charging doc when this was more of a universal solution.
I like the way it folds up and then at a click it slowly opens again, very 21st century!
Simple, functional, well biult, portable.
Not massively cheap, but it is good quality.
The size and weight makes it ideal for travel e.g. when using a device as a bedside alarm clock or to simply support a device on a long train journey to watch a movie or read a virtual newspaper/book.

This is a very handy gadget to have around. It is quite portable too as it folds up easily. All tablets are an ergonomic disaster if used with them in your lap due to the angle... Read morePublished 3 months ago by Gadget Consumer
Great stand, use it in the car for my iPhone. If the bottom had a non slip material then this would be the bombPublished 5 months ago by Satnam Singh
Does what it says but can't help feeling it could be so much more versatile. The only position is the one shown in the picture, which is pretty upright (30 degrees). Read morePublished 5 months ago by A. Percy
