I've a Mac Pro 1.1 2007.

Was running out of USB's & was trying to find another option - that didnt cost a bomb. Belkin have a decent enough rep & after reading Dereks review there, I thought I'd give it a try.

Works perfect. 100% cool. When installing it.. Guide it into the board, dont press it in. It will seem like its not going to fit & you'll be tempted to press it in.

It wont fit snugly to the Mac Case.. as the the lip that has the 4 USB's in it is a bit thicker than the cover that you'll remove from the Mac. Line it up gently, put the plate with the 2 screws on top & screw them in gently.

It works. Take it easy & you'll have no problems.

Cheers,

J

Needed extra USB connections so ordered this Belkin product. It failed to install so I returned it without any trouble. Then purchased a similar product made by Star Tech and this worked fine. Maybe it was just an incompatibility with my system but if I needed another one I would get the Star Tech USB PCIE card.

I have a quad processor Intel Mac Pro and noticed that Apple had the Belkin firewire/USB2 card on their site for £118 but nothing for all USB on a PCI express. I googled for cards that had all USB which is what I wanted as I didn't really need any more firewire slots and Belkin came up again, although the Belkin website didn't say it was Mac compatible. I called their tech support and the very helpful guy said it should work on a Mac without drivers, as is usually the case with Macs, so I bought it for one third of what the comparable card cost on the Apple site (cost £38 plus delivery). When I got it it came in one of those plastic packs you have to cut open with scissors (WHY do they do this?) however I managed to get it out but when I went to put it in the PCI Express slot, I discovered the card would not slot in far enough to enable the securing screw to be fixed without I felt injuring the card. I called tech support at Belkin, where their service is second to none, and the same guy who helped me choose the card answered the call. I ended up damaging the card by shaving it to allow it to sheet fully home, but Belkin replaced it when I explained that it probably would have gotten damaged anyway if I had screwed it in according to instructions. The replacement card was exactly the same as the one I damaged, however I have screwed it in lightly so as not to damage it and it is working very well. Happily the four devices that previously were hanging off on an external hub and having power supply problems even with power into the hub, are now all functioning perfectly. I'm not sure how this would go in a PC but in my Mac the functionality is 100 per cent. You certainly can't fault Belkin's customer service, it is excellent.

A great addition to a PC in providing extra USB ports.

I purchased this instead of a standard PCI USB Card simply because I had no more available PCI slots. I can't say I have noticed any difference in performance when connecting devices to this card than other USB ports on my PC (this card utilises PCI-E's high data bandwidth, in theory reducing the possible decrease in speed when data is sent from USB devices connected to this card). Worth the money if you haven't got a free standard PCI expansion slot.

I bought this because I was having issues with USB device compatibility via a hub. Although it doesn't say so, as well as drivers for the PC being included, for a Mac it works right out of the box. Full USB 2 & 1.1 compatibility, independently across its 4 external & 1 internal ports.

Never seem to have enough USB ports. Was hoping to swap belkin card from my old G4 but wouldn't work with the PCI express slot on the mac pro. Works perfectly, no software to install for macs, up and running in a couple of minutes.
