I've had the belkin ipod case for a few days now and for the money i'm very impressed. There are a lot of non genuine ipod accessories out there and i didn't want to get lumbered with a cheap and nasty peace of tack, thankfully the Belkin is quite the opposite.

From the picture it's a little difficult to see exactly how this case functions, so here go's. The ipod (i have a 20gb, fit's like a glove) sits in between two leather grips which clasp tightly to your ipod, in addition they're is a plastic sucker in behind for added protection and stability. I was a bit apprehensive of a plastic sucker because i thought it would be cheap and unreliable but it actually clamps very tightly and is very secure. We then have the flap that comes over the front of the ipod and this has two wing shaped velcro tabs which stick to the velcro tabs on the leather grips, the flap can be pulled back to show the ipod and give full functionality.

Anybody who has an ipod is obviousley more than aware how fragile and succeptable to scuffs and scratches they really are. I've read a few reviews where people have complained about the size of the belkin. It does add some considerable bulk to the ipod but i believe this to be a good thing. The extra bulk i find adds a lot of protection and i no longer have to dedicate and empty pocket with nothing else in it to stop it from getting scratched and scuffed. At the end of the day anybody who has an ipod has probably spent £200+ and lets face it one fatal knock could quite easily result in us being considerably out of pocket.

In short............if you want a bargain, build quality and adequate protection for your new baby, look no further!!!!!!

TOO BLOOMIN' BULKY 17 Jan 2005
Sure its great if you've got pockets the size of a rucksack! Really, it's too bulky for any practical purpose. The beauty of an ipod is that its small, it fits into your pocket brilliantly, and you don't notice it. HOWEVER with this case, its just too big. I disregarded all the other reviews saying that this was the case, so trust me on this one... it really is too big! Don't do it...

Apple pride themselves in their design, but what's the use of something that looks good when new only to look shabby in a week? Only a day after I first opened my iPod, scratches started to appear, even though I was careful. A case was urgently required.
I got the Belkin case because it had mainly good reviews and was sensibly priced. I didn't want a skin type case because in my experience they tend to fill up with crud.
Well it's a little bulky, mainly due to the belt clip. Otherwise the construction is good and the iPod is held firmly in place with a suction cup. The front is protected by a cover with a window which attaches using a large amount of velcro which means it is noisy to access it in quiet places. And you DO have to access it. The biggest problem I have with this case is that you have to undo the cover to get to the scroll wheel. Why they just can't make a round hole or even a touch sensitive part of the cover I don't know. However, if you need to carry your iPod outside of your velvet lined, scratch proof pocket, then this case is perfect.
Belkin claim you can attach the iPod to the dock while in the case, though I have yet been able to do this and it's much easier to remove it. Also they claim to have headphone storage, though I suspect when they discovered the design had a gap between the back of the iPod and the case they needed to provide a use for it.
To conclude, I wish Apple had not made a product with a finish which so desperately need a case, or at least they could have provided you with one at purchase. But Apple tend to be stingy with their extras. So my advice, get the Belkin (before you unwrap your iPod).

Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod, good for the price
For the price, it really is good, not brilliant, not the most practical, but not bad at all. If you use an I-trip then the open top design is well suited to this task.

Bulky
There is no doubt the Belkin case is an extremly good product. It does excatly what it needs to: protect the ipod. Yet, it is rather big, and is simply a hassle to use. Read more
