I bought this card as a test to see how the card performed before I upgrade my whole home network to gigabit (testing it at the lower speeds).
It was very easy to configure with my Windows 2000 Server machine which also dual boots with Ubuntu linux. The disk comes with the source code to create a linux driver but I managed to find out the name of the driver when I heard that it was already included in the Ubuntu distribution.
After configuration, it works great with both Windows 2000 Server and Ubuntu and has already improved network performance even before upgrading the rest of the network and cables to gigabit.
I have had problems with some other Belkin products but am very impressed with this one. Especially as Belkin include the source for the linux drivers.

Main reason for purchasing this card was so that it could be used for Wake On LAN. But it would appear that Belkin don't support this feature with this card. Hmmm... A challenge!

One poster elsewhere stated that this card uses the Marvell Yukon 88E8xxx chipset. Well, I couldn't find any drivers on the Marvell Yukon 88E8xxx chipset for this card. However, I did download and MANUALLY install the drivers for the Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC. (Realtek pretty much do all the chipsets... Well, them and Broadcom.) The RTL8169/8110 driver worked a treat. It supports WOL now.

Maybe Belkin price this card at the lower end of the scale and configure their drivers to leave out the good stuff (such as WOL) to encourage us to buy the more expensive kit. Thank God for a bit of techno-savvy and some homework. Oh, and thank you Realtek!

Still early days in testing the card so if I run into any issues I'll update. ;-)

Simple, sensibly priced card to upgrade a PC from the stanard 10/100 network connection to full-blown Gigabit (i.e. 'up to 1000') which can be very useful when moving large files around a home network (e.g. video onto a Network Attached Storage device) ... but makes little difference when moving small files, and obviously won't magically speed-up broadband (which for many is often only 6 letalone 100)
