2.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use but two serious problems 23 Nov 2010
    By jochta
    Using with iPod Touch 4.

Dead easy to setup to an empty frequency on the radio but unit has two main problems.

    1) Volume level outputted is very low and when the unit is plugged in you cannot alter it.

    2) When the display switches itself off after a few seconds a high pitched whine and hiss are heard through the radio. Very very annoying. Hitting the Pro buttons just makes it worse. It's not there when the display on the unit is showing but there doesn't appear to be a way to get it to keep showing.

For these two reasons the unit is practically unusable. I have tried it on three different radios and get the same problems on all three.

    1.0 out of 5 stars A serious headache. 9 Jan 2012
    By JC
So disappointed by finally ditching cheap tape insert versions to play the iPod in the car and spending a large amount on the belkin fm3.
After nearly an hour of trying all frequencies and pro settings, the mid range buzz and the very high pitch squeak are just the way the belkin transmits from the iPod it seems. No help from the belkin website support and now I notice two other references to this on the amazon reviews.
The big issue is that the high pitch sound (like the squeal off a tv or monitor) really only shows when there is a break between tracks or in a quiet spot in the music being transmitted. But it is there all the time so after about 20minutes of driving I wonder why I have a splitting headache and can still 'hear' the squeak when I've left the car! Then I find that everybody in the car is getting a headache.... Sorry I'm a scientist- so I need to check the variables-
Nope... Old cassette inserts and cheaper transmitter model do not squeak, it happens with the engine on and off, all our iPod variants show the same effect and it is equally present on the fm tuners in the house...... It's definitely the belkin......
I will call the uk number but I hold out little hope that they'll just cite some form of interference/ car/ iPod cause.... Why.... Because two other reviews complain of the same noise issue. Reality is (electronics background) this unit is not adequately suppressed.
Don't do this model unless you like paracetamol.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks good and works well 12 May 2010
Simple and clear to use. The ipod and our various old stereos seem to like it too. A good buy.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Belkin TuneFM3 6 Oct 2010
    Verified Purchase
This was purchased as a replacement for one where the digits had gone faulty. It is an excellent little device that transmits iPod songs through the car's radio speakers. The missing cable connecting to the iPod was no problem as we had one.

Clear and easy to set up using accompanying manual. Good display even in sunlight. Some interference along some motorways, presumably due to various communication repeaters. Overall good reception most of the time and by setting the two pre-set channels you can get over this problem. Three or four channels might be an improvement to give you more choice in some areas.

Very pleased with it. Seller recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Belkin Tune FM - Does the job 25 Jun 2012
    By Rockfan

I read plenty of confusing reviews before buying this product but glad I did. If you are expecting top quality hi fi sound, then go and upgrade your existing system. If on the other hand, you are happy with typical FM radio sound quality that occasionally fades but is perfectly acceptable, then this little gadget is just the job. It relies on one main thing - a spare FM radio frequency so you can tune it in without interference. I travel frequently around South and West Yorkshire and found a spare frequency easily. The Belkin Tune FM has the ability to save 2 frequencies so if one fades out, you can easily switch to the other at the press of a button. For the money (I paid under £18) this is a great way of playing music from your ipod via the car stereo.
