Product Description

Product Description

The Conserve Valet Smart USB Charging Station lets you charge all of your mobile devices in one convenient place, and automatically shuts off power-including standby power-after devices are fully charged. It even senses when new devices are added so you always get a full charge. The product itself draws zero power when not in use-so you can keep your devices ready to go without wasting energy.

Manufacturer's Description

The Belkin Conserve Valet Energy Saving USB Charging Station charges up to four devices at once and shuts off automatically when not in use. It addresses the energy waste that results from idle chargers, which still draw power when they are left plugged into the wall--whether or not a device is attached. The Conserve Valet draws zero power when not in use, so you can keep your devices ready to go without wasting energy.

Save Energy, Reduce Clutter

The Belkin Conserve Valet Smart USB Charging Station charges up to four mobile devices at the same time and shuts off automatically, so you can minimise clutter and save energy. This device also allows you to free up wall space--just this one unit replaces up to four charging "bricks" with one power cord. And the easy-to-see LED clearly shows all activity.

Designated Charging Spot

To help keep your mobile devices organised and easy to find, the Conserve Valet creates a designated charging spot. Place it on a desk, dresser, or side table, and you'll always know exactly where to find your phone, MP3 player, or camera.

Compatible with Phones, MP3 Players, and More

The Conserve Valet is compatible with most MP3 players, smart phones, digital cameras, and other portable devices that use a USB input to charge. The included Belkin USB cords are compatible with devices that have a Mini-B or Micro-B USB charge port. For added convenience, this device has 4 USB outputs (three located on the rear and one located on the side for easy-access charging).

User-Friendly Design

Designed to be easy to use, the Conserve Valet features push-button start, auto-off, and a auto-start function that kicks in when you plug in additional devices, ensuring the added devices receive a full charge. A non-slip finish on the tray prevents device slippage, an inner spool provides cord storage and management, and cut-outs underneath the tray secure cord placement.

The Conserve Valet Smart USB Charging Station is backed by a two-year limited warranty.

Right firstly this is the kit that I wanted to be able to charge:

- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPad 2
- Samsung galaxy s3
- Acer iconia b1

So five products into total but only 4 USB ports I hear you say? Well I am obviously only charging 4 at a time. In fact the 4S is now surplus to requirements, but I list for completeness as it's good to know an iPhone with both connector types charges ok. Now it was with some trepidation that I bought this as I had read people claimed this device did not charge their tablets. Being a little fool hardy I bought it anyway, such was the lure of a charger that promised to reduce the size of my carbon footprint.

At first I tried the Acer android tablet, no problems there. Similarly with both iPhones and the Galaxy S3, all plugged into the rear USB ports at the same time. No problems. Then I tried the iPad and instantly got the charging indication pop up on screen, sadly followed about a nano second later by the words "not charging" in the top right of the iPads display. So I then disconnected it and everything else and tried again to charge the iPad (to see if the other devices connected simultaneously was causing the problem). The problem was repeated. So next I tried swapping the generic cable I had been using for the original, and yep, you guessed it, still not charging. Never one to let the blindingly obvious put me off, I thought I'd just let it charge anyway and pop back in a couple of hours to see if it had made any progress. Much to my astonishment it had actually been charging! So I plugged all the devices back in, and found they all charged, including both iPhones (I swapped one for another after an hour or so).

I love this charging station! The fact that you just leave it plugged in seems like a small thing, but actually makes it so convenient. There are 4 USB ports to add your different chargers and you just wrap the wires around the centre of the station - very simple and uncomplicated. I don't know if this is sad or not, but we take ours on holiday - saves all that messing about!. Oh - and don't be put off by reviews that say it won't charge an iPad - it will, it just does so more slowly. So ignore the 'not charging' icon on the tablet and wait - it will charge to 100% in a few hours. Would highly recommend.

I was looking into some sort of way of keeping my cables tidy when charging my devices as I have several items and leads to match that can look very messy when all of them are on charge together.. I originally looked into those devices that you simply just place on a mat...BUT.. in the advertisements they neglect to tell you that you have to buy the attachment that goes on the back of the phone for each individual item... that and the fact it adds considerable bulk to the phone or device your charging .. so that method was a no no for me..This however is very similar in style and uses the original cables (but not the charger) and is kept neat and tidy wrapped inside the unit itself.. no extra cost and really does keep things to a minimum where cables are concerned. You can actually charge 4 devices at once supplying 5v x 500mA to each one... more then enough for phones ..ipods and the such like..
When you attach your usual cable, sit it down, you simply press the button at the rear of the unit and a subtle neon light comes on to tell you it's charging.. when the device is charged it turns itself off..Unlike the chargers that are supplied with phones etc... but the nice thing is... while that unit is being charged ,all you have to do is add devices as required and as long as one of the devices is still being charged you do not have to keep pressing the start button.. it automatically knows you have added a device and starts to charge that one too.. when all of the have been fully charged it turns itself off again..
It's well made and looks quite smart sitting on my computer desk..

I purchased this as a way to have a permanent charging hub for all my gadgets, rather than switching cables out of my USB plug.
It comes with both a small micro USB and mini USB which is handy to charging small appliances such as bluetooth headsets.

The cable organising feature is almost useless. You wrap the wires around the gap in the middle, and then when happy with the length you sit it in the slit. There are 4 slits spread out between the front, back and sides.
The problem is, they don't really hold the cable, and since you will move the cable when plugging the device in, it will come out of the slit and move around. This negates the point of having them.

Also, as you wrap the cables around, if you have more than one, they can end up getting messy and too bulky, making them come out of the device and looking untidy.

When charging a device, it automatically stops charging after 4 hours. If you plug another device in, it starts the 4 hours again, or you can extend the time by pressing the green button. This feature is not really that great or useful, but is to supposedly try and save energy.

The top of the device, where you are supposed to rest device being charged, isn't that useful as the shape of it isn't great for modern phones. I tried a Nexus 4, an iPhone 5 and a HTC One, and none of them sat on it too nicely. One problem is because they charge on the bottom, the wire pulls the device away sometimes and just makes it sit awkwardly.

It's an okay product, but not great with too many faults.
I have since replaced it with a
