If you need to push ethernet cable through walls (eg to put your network backup drives out of the way in a cupboard) then you've probably realised how big a hole you are going to have to drill to get a conventional Cat-5 RJ45 plug through to the other side.
I used to cut the ends of prebuilt patch cables, push them through, then painstakingly rebuild the plug the other side. Get a crimping tool Crimp Tool for RJ45 plugs/Cat5e Network Patch Cables for pennies, some ends Belkin RJ45 Modular Connector 25 Pack, and then drill a hole about the same diameter as the cable and get a really neat job.
    Why this cable?
Because it has multi-strand cores which work better, bend better, and generally behave themselves in your house, better.
Oh and you will love the crimping tool - for pennies, it just makes this job really easy.

I had reservations on buying this because it was so cheap in comparison to other equivalent cable. The product has no perceivable deficets. Although the cable has no screening that I could see, I installed it in a communications channel in our home that has several ring main circuits, audio phono cables, satellite cables, earth cabling, lighting circuit cabling, plus other wiring and all this in a channel of no more than 60mm square. The purpose of the 5e cable was to link a wireless router/modem to two PC's (non-wireless) situated in another area of the home. Both PC's operate exactly the same as they did before their ethernet connections were increase from 1.5 metres to 18 metres. I used this in conjunction with belkin RJ45 Crimping tool, no problems every connection perfect & never even a thought of a redo. I strongly recommend this cable - do not be put off because it is cheaper.

This is a great value buy! Check out the other prices for CAT5e cable and you will pay almost double. Also this is a good quality multi strand belkin cable in a strong box, ideal for pulling through and it is easy to bend into the back boxes. This buy was used to hard wire my home, as wireless doesn't work very well within the building for some reason. At 75 metres it worked out at about 20p per metre. The tool for fitting the wires onto the face plates was very cheap but remarkably strong and easy to use.

I paid about £15 for this it now showing £40 so I think it was a bargin at that original price.. Not sure why it is so high now.
Anyway I never have a problem with any of this cable. I bought this and a cheap crimp tool and some rj45 connectors.

Managed to wire all the key points in my house for next to nothing.. when considering what I would have cost for an installer to do it.
