1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this junk 2 Aug 2005
By A Customer
I bought a Class 1 bluetooth as I knew I wanted to operate at over 10m and in any case inside a house you need the range. The software was awful to get going but file transfer from my handheld eventually worked OK, whilst I was sat at the PC screen. As soon as I tried to move away the trouble started, with the link dropping out extremely quickly. I was so annoyed I set up the PC in a corridor and after 8 paces (about 7m) the link fell over - the test was creation of a new folder, so it wasn't data intensive!

I sent it back and got a refund, which I put towards the Sitecom CN502 which is excellent! Now I have bluetooth connection throughout the house and into the garden. I haven't bothered to test the straight line range as it's good enough for all I want.

Save yourself the trouble of sending this junk back for a refund - don't buy it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good value, poor software 10 July 2005
This thing is tiny - it looks very nice. It worked.

But the software is clunky and buggy. Setting up worked okay, but I found that sharing an internet connection (with Pocket PC 2003) did not work. In the end I had to download the latest drivers to get this working on XP Home. Even then, you need to manually enable internet connection sharing, which is a fiddle for people who don't like poking about in the control panel. I could never get internet connection sharing working with Windows 2000, which is a pity since that's one of the reasons I bought the device.

Another problem is that the device does not work properly when you suspend your computer. You have to manually stop and start the device to get it working again. This is just poor.

If you want cheap and cheerful Bluetooth get this, but beware of its problems.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with Nokia Suite or XP Pro 7 Aug 2005
By Paul
Spent a good few hours trying to get this working with my Compaq desk top, nokia 6021 mobile and printer. While installation went smoothly, performance was very poor and set-up was unstable.

Does the bare basics but may drive you mad trying to get it working properly.

Have returned it for refund.
