I purchased this unit for my neighbour so she could monitor her "sunny boy" solar panel inverter. I had already tested my own on her inverter and it worked perfectly.

Her new unit did not work, however, the problem being that "sunny boy" inverters will only connect to bluetooth drivers written by a handful of suppliers ie broadcom, microsoft or toshiba - but not Belkin!

The solution is either not to install the driver on the cd accompanying the unit or to deinstall if you have already done so and then let the unit find a driver (hopefully microsoft) on the web.

Then it will work perfectly like all Belkin products appear to do

This is the third Belkin device that has caused me grief trying to install drivers for for Win 64Bit XP or Win7. It really annoys me that manufacturers do not consider 64bit Operating Systems when designing these sorts of devices. Belkin and Logitech are the worst culprits. I gave up trying to get this to install. My recommendation to anyone using a 64bit OS is NOT TO WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY on this product!

Plugged it in and used the software provided - that was a big mistake. Ignore the CD, Do not use it. The first thing you need to do is go to Broadcom.com. This is the company which makes the Bluetooth software. Download the new software and drivers from the support page. Once this is done its time to play with the setting of your pc. In the search for files factility you will need to type "services.msc". There is only one file of this name and selecting it will bring up a new screen. On the right hand side look for Bluetooth Support Services in the list of services. If this is not set to automatic than change it to this.

Now its time to plug the device in. Windows will try to load drivers but most will fail. However you can ignore what the system is doing. Start the installation of the software you downloaded. This will validate the device and then download the rest of the software required to operate it. During this the system will install the correct drivers and Win7 will pick them up.

Once you have done this it works fine but had I been told the above I would not have wasted 2 hours.

This little gizmo does what it says on the can. It communicates with my Nokia mobile phone accurately. What more is there to say other than it was as easy as pie to install.

I purchased this bluetooth adapter so that I could access info from my PV solar panels. It works well but I have a problem with the program that SMA provided to download info from their inverter- it crashes my computer!. I am now considering buying a Sunny Beam info system.

I bought this (with little understanding of Bluetooth) in order to try to stream music from my PC to HiFi. It works a treat! Just pair-up the PC with a bluetooth receiver and as long as I switch on the receiver before running the media player on my PC, it plays via this bluetooth adapter and receiver instead of my PC speakers. So simple!

It also transmits all over the house and garden so I can also pair my PC with bluetooth headphones. excellent!

Other reviewers have suggested that this dongle is not Windows 7 compatible but I assure you it is. The default drivers installed by Windows automatically did not work however Belkin's website pointed me in the direction of the latest Broadcom chipset drivers and once installed the dongle worked perfectly. You will need the product code F8T017 to find this guidance.

I purchased the dongle to use my Creative WP-300 Wireless Headphones and they pair and work brilliantly. My only gripe it struggles between floors in my home when the range is much more like 5m-10m but it works great when on the same floor. I suspect the claimed 100m range is without obstructions such as walls and floors etc.

Overall I am very happy with the Bluetooth functionality this dongle has given to my desktop PC.
