Ok, 1st things 1st, the add-on battery pack does work, and works well, provided you don't keep playing with your iPod - i.e. leaving the backlight on, or constantly skipping tracks (meaning the iPod needs to access its HD frequently).
That said, if you _DO_ fidget a lot (leave the backlight on for a long time, and/or constantly skip tracks), this is going to be pretty useless - as is does not CHARGE your iPod battery - it just replaces it when the iPod is "normally" playing tracks [e.g. on shuffle, or playing through a play list]. Your iPod cannot function without charge in its internal battery, so if your iPod battery is empty, the pack will not help.
The pack is also very bulky, it doubles the cross-section of the iPod meaning it cannot be used in any carrying cases and won't fit into your trouser pocket any more. Since the connector cable is also very short, this means you have to attach the pack to the iPod to use it - meaning you can't use a case.
That said, it does the job it was intended to do, and keeps your iPod looking reasonably cool in the process. The batteries in the add-on pack can be replaced at will (with any AA type batteries that you fancy) and it does add a significant amount of playtime to your iPod.
As a finishing note, I'd suggest you evaluate whether you NEED one of these, as, in my opinion a car charger adaptor or razor socket adaptor [or anything similar] that allows you to *charge* your iPod from a would be a better option - after all, it only takes 50 mins for your iPod to charge to 80% - yes eighty percent (and about 3 hours to charge the remaining 20.).

I bought one for a 3 week trip to thailand. The internal battery pretty much died on the flight out. Having the pack was so handy. A few places where we stayed didnt have power sockets so couldnt charge it, but having the battery pack meant I could carry on using it.
Would of been bored to tears if Ipod was dead, as we had a 10 hr train journey and then a 12 hour flight.
Yeah its bulky, but who cares, I was just sitting there thankful it would play!

TO ALL IPOD USERS OF MODEL IPOD TOUCH 2nd. GENERATION......
THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS UNIT.
I have checked with BELKIN and they confirm that it will not work with the 2nd. generation.......
It should state on the package, but it does not....
I cannot use it.... I would give it less than ONE STAR but the people in BELKIN were very helpfull, and say they are working on it, to make it work with the 2nd. gen.

Dosent support my ipod touch??
Not very good at all, this is just a stardard dock connecter but my ipod just says that it is not compatable with this accessory. This is absolutly useless. Very dissapointed

Excellent! unlimited (as long as u have aa batteries) ipod playback
