If all you want to do is recharge a mobile phone, iPod, digital camera batteries or a laptop, this is probably more than you need - get a cheaper, less bulky inverter with a lower wattage. But if you want to run power tools or something that needs the high wattage, this is what you're looking for.
The reason I only gave it four stars is because it interferes with the car radio reception - to the point where it's not even worth having the radio on at all, because you can't really hear anything, although some frequencies seemed to be affected more than others.

For the price this inverter is extremely good value for money, it's nicely built and an ideal size for slipping under a car seat until it's needed. As well as the cigar lighter adapter it also includes clips to connect it direct to a battery. It only loses a star because of the noisy cooling fan which runs flat out all the time irrespective of the electrical load. This can get a bit intrusive when sitting in a quiet car using a laptop. Apart from that I've no complaints.

There were 2 serious faults with this product Firstly, the advert on Amazon and the product packaging claim the device can be used with portable radios and CD players. But the device is not shielded to prevent radio frequency (RF) signals from being transmitted. This causes the portable audio equipment to pick up this RF signal and emit a loud buzz. Therefore this product is unsuitable to be used with any audio device. Secondly the unit has a very loud cooling fan, which combined with the RF 'buzz' renders the equipment wholly unsuitable for any in-car entertainment purpose.

Belkin DC to AC Converter
As they say, does exactly as it says on the box. Don't find it at all noisy but then, I'm used to PC and laptop fans. The laptop fan may even be noisier than the Belkin fan. Read more

useful car addition
Useful for car as no longer need in car charger for mobiles, laptop, sat nav etc etc! Can hear fan running - a little noisy but with radio on ok. Read more

Belkin 300W Inverter
Works fine, but the fan is far too noisy. It runs at full speed all the time, rather than being variable speed depending on load.
