Book Description

15 Nov 1999

Other books about faeries are just that - books about faeries, filled with myths and stories. This book is uniquely different. It is a modern day instruction manual directly from the mystical realm itself; a 'Celestine Prophecy' brought back from the natural world. It takes the reader on a rare journey into a kingdom governed by ancient principles and powerful truths that can change our planet.

Believing in Faeries promises to alter the way we view the world.

Product Description

From the Author

HOW I CAME TO WRITE THIS BOOK... In my wildest literary dreams, I never expected to write a book about faeries. But in 1992 when I moved to Hawaii from New York City the strangest thing began happening: the flowers and trees started talking to me -- and Believing in Faeries was born. What I've discovered is that faeries are nature spirits. And their sole purpose on earth is to nurture and support our natural surroundings. Their realm is as real as cloud banks and morning dew. All of us, at some point, have had contact with their realm. It doesn't matter whether you're a business person, factory worker, or farmer. Each of us has walked in a beautiful park, tended a few plants, or camped in the woods. During those times, we've all felt or sensed something peaceful, almost mystical. That's their kingdom. All they want from us is to relate to them and to our surroundings with genuine kindness.

Believing in Faeries is a glimpse into their extraordinary world, filled with truths and principles that can help us transform our lives. With the new millennium upon us, and all our environmental challenges, we need to forge a new relationship with this amazing realm. Our destiny as a planet depends on it.

From the Back Cover

Ask any small child and they'll tell you: Faeries are real.

But ask any grown-up in a business suit and they'll just snigger and walk away. Why? Because, sadly, they've forgotten how to believe...

Believing in Faeries is and inspired journey into the elusive realm of nature spirits. Beautifully illustrated with faery art from a master. Here is a gift for any grown-up who's ever lost touch with the magic of childhood; a children's book for adults who need more whimsy in their urban lives.

From the prologue, 'A Pea Grows in Brooklyn' describing the author's first experience meeting a faery in her own backyard, to chapters revealing faery secrets such as 'How to Walk Through Walls' and 'The Mechanics of Flying', Believing in Faeries offers an insider's glimpse into a world we've all forgotten. But a world at our fingertips!

I met Marcia in Hawaii when I was living there and she gave me a copy of "Believing in Faeries" to take home. I read it cover to cover immediately. Her view of our natural surroundings is down to earth and ethereal at the same time. Though I loved "the idea" of faeries I had never really admitted they could be nearby. Marcia's very animated and inspiring style of writing made the faery world come alive for me--and now I feel the comfort and whimsy of their presence often. Her words jump off the pages and make you smile but they also make you reach down deep inside and feel the sense of solid substance. She helps the reader glimpse a world of magic and mystery simultaneously. I loved "Believing in Faeries" and I am an author too-- so this recommendation comes with my highest respect attached. Great book, Marcia!

Marcia's words warm my heart and fill my soul. I open her book and I smile. I am transported and inspired. I can hardly read one page without having visions of faeries dance through my mind, and cause me to stop reading and pick up my clay, to sculpt these creatures. This book is a precious gift to anyone who reads it.

Thank you Marcia for your beautiful inspiring book 'Believing in Faeries'. If we could all put away our pride and predjudices and apply the basic teachings of this book; to love; to acknowledge; 'to relate with kindness and joy to another, whether that "other" happens to be a fairy, a flower, a fern or a fir tree', there will be hope for us all. When I was a little girl, I had no doubt that my friends I played with outside were fairies, now, in my thirties I have learnt to sing freely again. This is a must for anyone with the slightest curiosity or interest in the Hidden Kingdom.
