One of Wilf's better ones,

This is one of Wilf's better albums, with some nice versions of some old classics, eg. The Very Thought of You and Hallelujah! I Love Her So. He sounds a lot happier on this album than his usual self too...It's helped along by Van Morrison and Doris Troy guesting on a couple of tracks, which offers some light relief. Overall it's pretty listenable...!

Having read and heard some great reviews for this album I decided to go for a punt. Its surprisingly good if you like blue eyed soul. The only problem is it suffers in the same kind of way as the coral. All the songs are immediately excellent but just don't have the staying power to make me want to listen to it again in six months time.

JAMES HUNTER A NATIONAL TREASURE !,

Saw James Hunter earlier this year at the International Cheltenham Jazz Festival playing to a packed marquee arena, and did he take the audience by storm. He's a superb performer has a top rated band and writes some pretty awesome songs.Rated very highly byartists such as Van Morrison and Ben Waters, and rightly so. He also has a very personal guitar style in some ways not unlike Jimmie Vaughan but no way copying him.The band on this album is pretty well his live one with the main changes being the keyboard player, plus two tracks with the man himself Van Morrison, and he doesn't do many tracks other than his own so that again shows how good an artist JH is. Unlike his recent two very well recieved releases this has some covers as well including live favourite 'Out Of Sight'always asked for at his shows,and this is a superb version.There's also a duet with soul diva Doris Troy on'Hear Me Calling' a ral album highlight, then songs such a\s 'Let Me Know','Halelujah I Love Her So', 'I'll Walk Away' what a great track this truly is.So in all fourteen tracks of top rate music by one of trhe very best this country has,and he's very popular in the USA as well.Like a dose of sixties type R n B, then James Hunter vis where you stop first and this five star album of quality throughout.
