I am a huge Rik Mayall fan and was pleased to find this video. Rik plays a Professor Adonis Cnut, who is the most intelligant man in the world, and is irrisistable to women, except to the lovely professor Hannah Awkward.

it's the perfect role for Rik. Adonis is arrogant, a complete perv and womaniser, yet unlike Richie (in bottom) he gets what he wants.

His butler, Albumen, is really funny, and seems to be in love with Adonis, or brainwashed. There are characters played by Rory Bremner too, which also adds to the comedy.

i highly recommend it, especially to Rik Mayall fans.

a quote from the program:

"I'm bored Albumen, i need to have sex. sex with an alien life form.... have we still got Anne Robinson's phone number?"

All six episodes of the bizarre series penned by Maurice Gran and Laurence Marks starring Rik Mayall and Michael Maloney. Rik Mayall plays 'Quadruple Professor Adonis Cnut'- the cleverest man in Britain who is recruited by The Council for International Progress (i.e. the 13 shadowy figures who secretly control the world!) to help them in their dealings. Cnut is aided by his faithful manservant 'Brian Albumen' (Maloney - is there no end to this man's talent?) and the 'Luscious Hannah Awkward' (Emily Bruni) through many of today's global issues... that take a Marks & Gran twist...

The DVD has more extras than I'd hoped for- interviews with Mayall, Maloney, Bruni and Marks & Gran, and also includes 22 outtakes. If you're a fan of Rik Mayall or Michael Maloney (or both) - I promise you'll love this!!

ITV were obviously trying to recreate the success of The New Statesman, and while they failed in that respect, there's still enough silliness to justify a viewing. It's relatively cheap so if you're a fan of Mayall then this represents decent value for money, and the other two main characters are pretty funny and well acted as well. Not overly memorable, but not one you'd try to forget.
