Product Description

Among professional DJs, certain mixers emerge over time as must-have equipment, and the PRO MIXER VMX1000 is destined to face such fate. It is a professional 7-channel rack-mount DJ mixer with a BPM counter that is predestined for professional clubbing with its wide-ranging connectivity options and intuitive layout. The techies will appreciate the super-smooth ULTRAGLIDE faders with up to 500,000 life cycles and the VCA-controlled crossfader - they yield utmost reliability and smooth audio performance. BEHRINGERs awesome XPQ stereo surround effect will give your mix an unmistakable finishing touch, and the adjustable crossfader curve lets you quickly adapt to various mixing styles. But the list goes on: you get a 3-band kill EQ (-32 dB) with EQ on/off switch on stereo channels as well as gain control and precise level meters on each channel. There is also a monitor function with PFL/main balance control & split option and auto-talkover function with separate depth and sensitivity control. The subwoofer output with adjustable x-over frequency and level control is perfect for putting some extra punch to your dance numbers, and youll never run out of connectivity options with the balanced main and additional zone outputs. Its extensive array of features is proof positive that even the most discerning DJs will feel right at home taking the VMX1000s helm.

This mixer has some really good features such as adjustable talk over function and two separate main outputs. The second output is very useful for controlling the volume of your base speakers through a second amplifier.
So why the poor rating?
The mixer produces a 'humming' noise audible through the speakers when the main volume is raised above halfway. I have returned two mixers for this problem & am now on my third. (Perhaps I have been unlucky)?
Behringer have been very helpful but the product is spoilt because the integral power supply produces interference which is then picked up by the main pcb.
I have modified my present unit to overcome this but what a shame for an otherwise excellent mixer.
My advice is to try before you buy.

This mixer is a great buy for the money. I have used it for over a month and a half. When I received it thru UPS, I read the manual - good writing, clear and concise - very explanatory in identifying all of the twisty-knobs, flippy-switches, and blinky-lights.

It has been turned on for 24/7 mixing input for my low power FM radio station. After hooking it up - with the user's manual close by - I flipped the power switch - As it came alive a dozen-teen colored lights started to blink. You can't dim the lights but, for me, they are at a brightness that does not bother me. The inputs used are Channel 1: computer, Channel 2: satelite feed, Channel 3: CD player, Channel 4: turn table, and Channel 5: MP3 player.

You can lay it down flat or stand it upright. I have mine standing upright. It will not take an unbalanced microphone, only the XLR microphone connection. The microphone enjoys its own bass thru treble controls, as does each of the input/output channels.

My personal conclusion: The equipment is easy to learn and to use; easy on the wallat; fantastic eye-candy for others when they walk into the studio. There is no hum when the gain is cranked to its highest setting. I would recommend this piece of equipment.
