This is a Behringer Ultra-DI DI100 with a bit of extra, optional circuitry. Everything good that has been said about the DI100 applies to the GI100. It's reliable, built to withstand the rigours of real world use, and provides an exceptionally faithful signal for a very reasonable price. Why people will pay more for a DI box is a mystery to me. The only flaw with the unit is that fitting a battery is fiddly. As I have bad hands this is an irritation, but only a minor one because, if you're using the box in a professional environment, the chances are you have phantom power available anyway. (If you do use batteries, consider buying a box of Duracell Procells. They're much cheaper than coppertops and just as good.)

The difference from the DI100 is the inclusion of Behringer's "Ultra-G" 4×12inch cabinet simulator. I don't really need it as I have a Bass V-Amp Pro for that purpose. But the difference in price is negligible, and it's always good to have some spare equipment around. The cab-sim is switchable, so it doesn't cause a problem when you just need a straight DI box. Obviously, it's not as flexible as the V-Amp. It's either on or off, that's it. But it's a very usable analogue simulation, and can be driven from the output of a power amplifier if required, rather than directly from the instrument. I defy anyone to say that's not worth three quid.

One last thing: If you're tempted by the prospect of eliminating hum with the "ground lift" switch, but don't actually know what it does, I recommend you read up on the topic first.

I'm very impressed with this little box. It certainly makes recording an amp rather easy. The speaker emulation is surprisingly good. Though I've got better sounds recording without it and then adding a speaker impulse via software on the PC.

One tip for other users is that the impedance of the device is negligible, so rather than run it between your amp and cab, just run it from a parallel speaker out from your amp. You can even use a regular guitar cable for this, rather than the two proper speaker leads you'd have to use otherwise.

While setting up a conference in London we found that the speakers had a very bad electrical buzzing sound that was painful to the ears and would not cease no matter what volume level. I went online and found this on a different website but price was much higher and deliver took over a week, while we needed it within a day. I purchased the product and the next day 4pm we had the product and the problem was complexly solved. Its a very sturdy design compact and very simple works perfectly. very happy with the product and the delivery time. Would recommend.

I bought this to improve my acoustic guitar sound through a p.a. system, the reason was to get a more "rock" sound without using an electric guitar. As part of an "acoustic duo" this little unit (along with a compressor) took the sound where I wanted it to go, especially for solo work. It's rugged, easy to use and versatile.

If you want to use this to plug a guitar in to a desk forget it. There is so much noise created that it's like being at the seaside. I'm not talking a bit of noise, I'm talking about so much hiss that someone thought I had an FM radio not tuned in properly. Very disappointing.

As the title intimates, I bought this, and it's great, but I subsequently found out that my xenyx mixer accepts my electro acoustic perfectly well without it. It's nice and chunky and I'm sure I'll find a use for it elsewhere in my kit.
