Product Description

Product Description

If tone is the name of your game, the COMPRESSOR/SUSTAINER CS400 will add amazing impact to your tone and provide endless sustain. What?s a Compressor? Dynamics play an important role in music. They help to convey emotion, whether it?s a sultry blues solo or the unrelenting gallop of unfettered metal. But uncontrolled dynamics can take all your best intentions and turn them into so much, well...mush. That?s where compression comes in, softening loud sounds and boosting low signal levels to keep everything more uniform. So, a compressor?s main job is to make every note the same volume. Balancing Act Ever notice how some strings on your guitar or bass sound louder than others? This is partly due to physics. Strings with lower mass just don?t put out as much volume as the heavier ones. When used properly, a compressor makes all of the strings the same volume. Compressors are also great for slap-style bass players, making thumb slaps, string pulls and muted notes all the same volume, for an extremely percussive effect. Easy to Operate You can dial in the right amount of compression using the dedicated ATTACK and SUSTAIN dials. The LEVEL control allows you to set the output to subtle, or engage a monster volume boost. TONE lets you add exactly the right level of highs. From clean, snappy country leads to rock solos that scream for eons, the CS400 is built to make your sound the center of attention. Its LED tells you when it's on, and the top-quality on/off switch maintains outstanding signal integrity in bypass mode. You can power this scene-stealer with either a 9 V battery or our PSU-SB DC power supply (not included). Value The COMPRESSOR/SUSTAINER CS400 is an affordable way to add some serious finesse to your playing.

I have a couple of Behringer pedals and they are great value for money.
If you want an effect unit for home use or even for occasional gigging these are well worth checking out - they are never going to be the first choice for pro or semi pro musicians who want and can afford to pay for top quality gear but for the money they cost they are well made and sound great.
Ive seen a couple of reviews saying the batteries dont last very long - the simple answer is that, unless you have a power supply plugged in (which disconnects the internal battery) you should unplug the input jack from the pedal - thats what turns the battery power on / off! - This is NOT a fault - most makes and models of pedal work in the same way.
There is lots of talk about how they are made of plastic and are "not up to the job" - if you want to actually STAMP on it, wearing heavy boots whilst playing a "deaf metal riff", like a "real man" would then you will probably break it but lets face it, unless you sort out your anger management issue's you're going to make a t**t of yourself at some point anyway, no matter what pedal you buy! Tap it with your foot to switch it on and off and it will almost certainly last for years - and Mummy's less likely to be shouting at you for scaring the cat.
They work fine and cost bladders, what more do you need? - check out the many reviews and comparisons on YouTube to see if a particular pedal suits the sound you want.

from the off, ive heard all sorts of stories a about these pedal. all im going to sayu is if this pedal is in your price range this is the pedal to buy, constructed of plastic, its never going to be one you chuck about, but if you wanting a pedal that does the job, well and not going to leave you out of pocket, go for this pedal, its well made, decent sockets adjusters the lot. the compresser is very good, sustain is decent too, being using it with both over drive and distortion and it works an absolute treat. not a Boss Pedal, but a lot better than i expected. in fact so much , i bought 2 others from the range and there just as good :)

A bit disappointed about this. It promises unlimited sustain, but that can NOT be attained with this pedal. The Compressor works OK, and the separate Volume setting can come in handy, but I had greater expectations of this....

Plastic housing aside, this pedal is great value for money. It may not have the flexibility of more expensive compressor pedals, but for tightening up your sound, bass or guitar, it does the job well.

This pedal is great value for money. It provides good compression and a reasonable amount of sustain.

I saw others (and on other websites) had reported that it caused noise or "fuzzy" sounds.

When I first plugged mine in using a battery I had lying around, it was "buzzy" and made a horrible sound. I replaced the 9v battery and it worked fine !!!!

I think this unit is sensitive to power supply voltage (and psu noise) so use a new battery or a good quality psu and you will get the best out of it.

I was amazed how quickly this arrived. It does what it says useful as a level boost and sustain increaser. Although plastic it seems quite robust. The only potential week link could be the pivot which needs to be sprung inwards to access the battery compartment although up to now in use it has been fine. At this price good to experiment with different setting on the pedal in conjunction with amp settings. I tried it with a new Poundland alkaline battery and experienced none of the noise issues mentioned by others.

There's no denying that this is a budget piece of kit. It has a plastic casing which I don't think anyone would consider taking on a world tour; the effect itself isn't bad, spend four times as much & you'd obviously get better. It is a bit noisy & I think the battery access is fiddly & the mains input on the side isn't the smartest idea...on the whole though, for the price, it works...

Compresses and sustains depending how you tweak it. Not got the compression I'm looking for yet but just stuck onto my pedal board, plugged and played so should get there with a bit of twiddling. Well worth the money.
