We use this brand of studio monitor in our studio for our radio station at University and have never faulted us. The ability to limit the sound is particularly useful for times when there may be lessons going on elsewhere on campus. The quality of sound is brilliant too. Definitely industry/broadcast standard equipment.

Sound quality is great. 5 Aug. 2010

The sound quality of this speaker is great. It has a very wide and consistent dispersion until it starts beaming at 8kHz. I didn't find this troublesome at all, in fact I rather enjoyed it. It's a detailed sound with a surprising amount of bass for being so small and the enclosure is shaped to minimize diffraction. Too bad it looks like they borrowed heavily from Mackie's cheaper line of monitors' enclosure. On the example I got to listen to and measure, I thought the tweeter amp has an intermittent distortion that was very frequent when the treble boost was engaged, but it turns out it is just really good at revealing the source content. That's exactly what a monitor should do. It truly sounds good and outstanding for this price. I haven't compared it to the Mackie it emulates, but I would definitely like to hear it prior to purchase. The vertical polar window is impressively broad as well. I can't see where you could go wrong with this monitor for the price.

Excellent 26 Jan. 2013

Short and to the point-----excellent monitors. Sound quality is very good, plenty of headroom, and easy on the working musician's wallet. I think Behringer gets a bad rap for being cheap quality, but those who are saying that have been programmed to think only the high dollar, industry standard name brands can deliver professional. Try these out. It can't hurt. Everybody's ears are different, and maybe they won't work for you, but that doesn't mean these are poor grade monitors.

For what you pay for these, you get excellent, clear sound. For anyone on a budget, these can't be beat. It is a little light on the low end, but that is to be expected for such small woofers. I use a sub to fill it out.

Great Speakers, but you will be terribly frustrated if one ever needs maintenance 5 Mar. 2014

Behringer customer service is absolutely atrocious. If your speaker breaks plan on waiting 8-10 weeks while they order the part from china. They will offer to send you a refurbished replacement but don't get your hopes up. They sent me two in a row that did not work (One would not turn on and the other had electrical issues). They never actually fulfilled their warranty agreement for me, Amazon had to do it for them by giving me an exchange. I am now on my 6th and 7th speakers, with 4 of the previous 5 I have received being defective. Do yourself a favor and buy a pair of monitors from another brand at similar price. That way if you do have any issues, you will not be stuck waiting 3 months like I did to have them resolved. I even filed a better business bureau complaint against them and they lied to the BBB, telling them I was just whining by giving a fictitious account in which they did everything they could. They are not good people nor are they honest.

If the above hasn't turned you away from these speakers then this is my opinion as to how they sound. They are wonderful. The highs come through clear and the lows are delivered effectively without being overpowered. Overall great balance.

Below is the complaint I issued to the BBB:

A speaker under warranty needed repair. 3 months passed, during which they sent 2 defective replacements. They acted like they had no accountability.
I bought a pair of speakers made by Behringer on Amazon in January 2013. In late October 2013, the tweeter on one of the speakers began to buzz. I was still under warranty so I contacted The Music Group (whom handle Behringer warranty) and was told I could take it in to a local certified shop for repair. I brought it to the shop in mid-Novemeber and it sat there until late December. I called the shop owner and he told me that The Music Group was going to send a replacement speaker since the part he needed was unavailable. The Music Group never contacted me in any way to inform me of this and I had to hear it secondhand from the shop owner, something which I felt was very unprofessional. The replacement arrived in January and when I plugged it in it did not work. I contacted The Music Group again and they told me they would swap it for another one. I sent the defective speaker back and another one arrived in early February. This speaker was also defective. I called The Music Group and they informed me that they had been sending me refurbished units, which they had not informed me of before. I asked to have a new speaker sent to me since by this point I had been waiting for two and a half months for the issue to be corrected. They declined, saying it was not possible for them to do that. They then told me that the best they could do is send me another refurbished unit. I begrudgingly accepted because it was the only option I had. Two to three weeks passed and I still had not received my replacement. I called in again and they informed me that they had not sent me a replacement and that my original speaker was to be repaired and sent to me. They never tried to contact me beforehand to give me this information. By this time I had been fed up with their unacceptable customer service. Finally an agreement was worked out where they contacted Amazon to arrange a return for refund. A supervisor from The Music Groupcalled to tell me that Amazon would issue me a refund and that I would be able to keep my speakers as well (the other one being sent to me after it was repaired) which was a lie. I accepted, but when amazon contacted me via email they made it clear that I was to return the speakers in order to receive a refund. I once again called The Music Group and they acknowledged the error. I was hoping to get a new pair of the speakers, however the price on Amazon had risen from the original price of $230 to 300$ a pair. When I told The Music Group about this, they basically told me tough luck and to just, I quote, "shop around". I then asked how long I would have to wait for my speaker to be repaired because at this point I just wanted it back. They told me it would be another eight to ten weeks before they even got the part they needed. This was absolutely unacceptable seeing as I had already been waiting three months. As a last resort I called Amazon customer service to see if I could simply exchange the old speakers for a new pair. Unfortunately Amazon could not do that as my refund had already been issued but they could give me $70 dollars off a new pair to match the price. Amazon was able to do in ten minutes what The Music Group couldn't in three months(or even longer). The Music Group then sent me an email asking whether or not I would want my broken speaker shipped to me or directly to Amazon. I replied that I would like it shipped to Amazon. Knowing I couldn't rely on them to answer or even read my emails I called in the next day to ask about the status of the return. They had not received my message and were prepared to send the speaker back to me. If I had not called they would have done so.
