Product Description

Product Description

Ex squaddie Dan Thornton is enjoying the year 2012 coming to an end, in the company of a few mates on a typical December’s night in front of the TV.

After flicking over to watch the passing out parade from almost 10 years ago, he finds himself drifting off into a subconscious state – where he finds himself back in 2001, when he signs up for the Army, and leaves home in South Wales in exchange for the Army Foundation College in North Yorkshire.

What will life bring him? He’s assigned to a Platoon run by loud mouthed Corporals and un-politically correct Sergeant Razor Clark from the Parachute Regiment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read 26 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I have just finished reading this book and whilst it may have been better "Proof Read", who am I to criticize?, I have not written a book nor, even come close to it.

Excellent narrative which captured exactly my own feelings of trepidation, lack of self confidence and bewilderment on first entering the Army system some 45 years ago and the voyage of discovery that my own PS or, tormentors took me on. It was interesting to note that some things never change despite the regular assertions by Army PR that they have reviewed and evolved into a more humanitarian organisation.

I could not put the book down and, as a consequence, finished it far too quickly. If I were to make one complaint it would be that the book did not continue his story beyond his Pass-Out from Harrigate College and into Adult Service and joining his Regiment but, therein may lie the makings of a further book and I for one would have no hesitation in buying it, should that be the case.

Behind the wire is the punk rock of military books,, full of light hearted tales of fun and mischief! It's an absolute ball, I was laughing from start to Finnish.
