Linda Regan has used her undoubted experience as an actress to provide the reader with an intimate look at backstage antics in this, her first crime novel. Cleverly using a professional pantomime performance as the background to superbly developed plot-lines which include two suspicious deaths and the personal lives of the investigating police officer and his female assistant, Linda also shines an intrusive light into the dark nooks and crannies of provincial theatre, showing us the real dirt, highlighting the jealousies, the unholy alliances and revealing the sexual proclivities of this particular group of fictional thespians. The contrast between the actors' sparkling onstage performances which have the audiences screaming with delight and their backstage, backstabbing behaviour, gives the reader a real insight into what really goes on behind the scenes and behind the make up.

An enthralling read, this crime story has it all; a clever plot, unbelievably believable characters and an unsuspected twist at the end. An excellent bedtime read.

I had the good fortune to see both Linda and her husband Brian at my local theatre, from which I managed to talk to her briefly and brian. I bought the book shorlty after the talk she had given. As for the book, once I started to read it, I found myself completely involved in the story, the characters and the plot, so much so i was eager to find out who and why it happened.
Linda's style and approch, was exellent, once you started it was difficult to put the book down.The set of the book is a murder of a dancer on theatre of a christmas panto, as the story evloves the charcters and the line of questioning from the detectives who are called in to investigate the incident(s) moves up a gear with more and more
misshaps continuing untill the final truth of the case is revealed. The book it's self has a great and realistic ending, I won't spoil it but well worth reading.
I look forward to her new book, which is due out in september,hopefully Linda will be there to promote the new book!
