This is a short book, but that's a GOOD thing! I wanted something that felt more like a tutorial than a reference manual and that's exactly what this is. Right from the start, you're building reports and having concepts explained by someone who's obviously taught beginners before, and this engaging style meant that I got through all 10 chapters in less than a week. The only minor criticisms I have are that there are a couple of typos and I seemed to miss the bit about installing the database, but these didn't cause too much of a problem. Also, the instructions for downloading the files just gives the publisher's web site home page address, so you have to search around a bit. All in all, though... it was good fun to read and follow along with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Begin the journey with this book! 25 Aug. 2013

Like many people who know some SQL it has been hard to start the SSRS journey. I have tried a few expensive SSRS book bricks but they left me feeling a little overwhelmed. This book started at the very beginning and the online videos really made this easy. How to set up SSRS and how things work together seems so much easier now!

Glad Joes 2 Pros has Given a Subject in Book Format that is Hard to Search on the Internet.

There is a lot of trial and error with SSRS if no one else around knows it and you are the one to figure it out. Sure the internet gives some hits on help but it takes a lot to find what you want. I wish I had this at the beginning of my trial and error of SSRS.

Thank you Joes 2 Pros!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very short, and easy to read book! 8 Feb. 2014

I took a beginning T-SQL class that used this book to introduce us to making reports. It is awesome, due to having step-by-step instructions showing exactly what to do to make professional looking reports. There are lots of screen shots, making it hard to get lost in the steps. The book itself is short, but is jam packed with information! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn how to make reports w/ SSRS.
