Product Description

Product Description
This text provides an introduction to the sciences and the scientific method. Compact enough to be used as a supplementary book yet comprehensive enough in its coverage to be used as a core text, it requires students to use the scientific method to design and assess experiments.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to scientific method, 18 Sep 2008
By Andrew Dalby "ardalby" (oxford) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is an ideal book for either a first course for degree level science students to introduce research skills and the scientific method, or alternatively for a more advanced course for non-scientists who are interested in understanding scientific method or who want to understand scientific arguments.

It would also be ideal for someone who is interested in science but who is skeptical of what they see in the media. This book will help them to sort the genuine from the fictitious and will allow them to take the spin out of science journalism.

My one criticism is that at times it is difficult to follow the thread of the arguments. They become clear with the copious examples and with the problems and example solutions but just the simple use of white space could have made some sections easier to read.
