I really enjoy this CD, particularly Disc 2, it's the perfect backdrop for warm summer nights (or pretending it's warm!) However I would agree that Young Gifted and Black would be a better first-buy for someone who hasn't listened to much reggae, as that's got all the classics on, and in a 'Beginner's Guide' it's good to recognise a few tunes! But this covers styles ranging from roots reggae to more up to date dancehall, so I would definitely recommend it to people looking for a comprehensive guide to reggae....

Being of Jamaican heritage I have always listened to reggae. Whilst I know a lot of the songs, there are a few I don't know. Great tracks and a well put together and enjoyable album.

The compilation itself is amazing and I particularly enjoy CD 2. So much that I barely listen to the others. To my surprise, the third CD had a very deep scratch that affected more than half of the tracks, which made them skip - a lot (photo attached). I am sad that I received a faulty CD but I am glad the others are intact and perfectly working. As a person who wants his original CDs spotless, it is bothering me a lot but the compilation is too cheap to bother.
