A useful source of reference for both beginners and advanced,

This review is from: Beginner's Guide to Silk Painting (Paperback)
I have just taken up silk painting as a new hobby and I am finding this excellent book very useful. There are twelve step by step, well illustrated projects, using a range of techniques from simply painting onto wet or dry silk to using gutta, wax or salt granules. The projects give an introduction to basic silk painting skills but also provide a good starting point for being creative and developing your own ideas. I am particularly pleased to find the chapters showing basic materials and colour mixing plus a comprehensive glossary.I am confident that they will be a constant source of reference. This book is perfect for beginners but is also ideal for those who want to progress further with this craft.

Well organised and illustrated simple guide to silk painting, using straightforward language and suggesting easy and actually quite attractive projects! [unlike some craft books!] Cheap enough just to buy to find out if the craft is for you.

This book contains most of the techniques you can use when you start painting on silk. I had some experience already with pre-gutta silk, and there are a lot of other things to be done and materials to be used, as I learned from this book. The pictures are very clear, there is a list of the names of all the materials, and it seems to be complete.
I also ordered the Shirbori-book by the same author, I use that more because it appeals to me more but I do not regret buying this book. They are both great to learn from and as a simple reference.
