I bought this book after buying 'The Essential Guide to Cake Decorating' (also published by Murdoch) and would definitely recommend it. There are cakes for all levels of skill, and the instructions are clear. The only thing I would add is that when making sugarpaste, it is easier to mix it with a palette knife, as it sticks like mad to a wooden spoon and is quite messy to get off.

This book was like my very own decorating bible. It was easy to follow and I kept going back to it for reference. I used to buy my coloured sugar paste for convenience but it is so easy to make your own and create unique colours.

Its a good book for beginners but it would have been better if it have more pages and more modern cakes samples(designs)in it.

I found the front of book useful as details on techniques and icing but the pics, cakes and suggestions are a little dated and plain.
