Reading the other reviews for this book, I think I realize why my review may be entirely different from theirs. These people have this book and already know how to crochet. I am a true beginner. I started crochet about a week ago and I couldn't be more disappointed in this book. I find that the descriptions are entirely inadequate. The photos are somewhat helpful but still are usually of a part of the stitch that I understand while glossing over the parts that are confusing. The author could learn the value of using photoshop and inserting an arrow on a picture to point out exactly what she's referring to sometimes. She gets a fail from me when it comes to adding in different color yarn and the like. She does not teach beyond the example patterns that are provided (which are antiquated looking at best for the most part). I think that this is the kind of book that I may pick up a year from now more as a reference than anything. Overall I'm highly disappointed mostly due to what I feel is, at best, a misleading title and at worst a poorly written beginners guide. Honestly, I've found the small guides that I've found through internet search engines more helpful at this point and those are all free.
