Great little book if you are starting out keeping chickens in your back garden. As chickens are adept at managing their owners this book gives plenty of information to assist you with what needs to be done as opposed to what the chickens will demand of you. Included is anything from coop cleaning, amount / type of feed to give, plus the all impotant (important from a chicken's point of view that is) treats! Also covered are common ailments and treatments. I like the egg recipies section but not sure the chickens would approve of the inclusion of how to cook the perfect roast chicken! Well worth buying is you are a novice keeper. A more comprehensive index would help so you can look things up quickly.

I bought this little book, which is more of a pamphlet than a book. The text is widely spaced so there isn't much content in fact. I was also disappointed that there wasn't a single figure or photograph in the book.

I'm a beginner with chickens, but this book didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, it's just a listing of general knowledge with some heavy patting on the back by the author how involved she is with saving ex-battery chickens.

I especially didn't like her sly dig at her "friend" who had the audacity to keep a chicken in her bathroom. In fact there are some types of bantam (=small) chickens that can be kept in flats and on balconies, just as you would keep a parrot. This is described in other - better - books.
