Product Description

Product Description

This little book is a direct challenge to the way people who have ME/CFS
are portrayed in the media and treated by most of the medical
profession. The most damaging 'false illness belief' about ME/CFS is
that it is a psychiatric condition; as a fully qualified psychotherapist
who has also been diagnosed with ME, Nancy believes that all sufferers
actually have a multi-system, complex disorder (with a range of
measurable biomarkers) which requires above all that they minimize
physical exertion. This book includes information about the latest
scientific developments and how to address the blood flow problems
which, according to the researches of Dr. L. O. Simpson, can explain the
nature of ME patients' symptoms.

The author believes that the worsening prognosis for people who have
ME/CFS reported in recent years is not in the nature of this illness,
but is being caused by inappropriate treatment. She urges a return to
the practices of the earliest researchers, who noted that the best
outcome occurred in those patients who had a period of enforced rest
from the earliest stages.

Carers take note - it is your help which can keep open the possibility
for a significant degree of recovery!

I found this taster for the book to be published in January helpful just as it is. Well worth the money just for the tried and tested how to save energy tips.

I would guess everyone who reads it would guess they wish they had this book in the very beginning. The explanation of why the all oxygen isn't reaching the capillaries was eye opening and explains that why I have a recently tested 98% oxygen uptake in my blood, that oxygen isn't all reaching my muscles and my heart has to pump harder to cope with activity and those energy demands over what my heart can comfortably supply. I've used a pulse monitor for a little time and found that my breathing goes up accordingly, but recovers very quickly when I slow down or stop the activity for half a minute or less. Now I can listen to my breath when doing physical exertion to guide when when not to walk so fast etc. I still need to know more about so much more.

I'm very much looking forward to buying this book when it comes out in January and will pre-order a copy now to be sure I get is asap.

I have read a wide range of books on this subject, looking for helpful ideas.I feel even more confident that I can make further improvements to my health now with the help of Nancy Blake's forthcoming book book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Graded Exercise Makes ME ("CFS") Worse... 15 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
So don't do it!! This simple, but invaluable advice is at the center of this primer for the ME patient learning about the disease and treatment. I would give anything to have had this advice when I was first ill. Instead, like most ME patients I was told by my health care professionals to exercise more and more and more. Unfortunately, this graded exercise "therapy", which is heavily pushed on most ME patients, made me much worse, as it almost inevitably does any ME patient. This is because the hallmark of the disease is Post Exertional Morbidity, that is, exertion makes the disease WORSE. So, please avoid exercise at all costs! This fake therapy was conceived of and promoted by a small cabal insurance lobbyists, trained as psychiatrists and posing as scientists, called the Simon Wessely School.

Note that this is a good, but very brief- 36 pages- primer. If you want more information, you can instead get the same author's longer collaboration with Leslie Simpson, PhD which delves into pathophysiology and promising treatments for ME. I also very highly recommend that book, called "Ramsay's Disease." Best of luck and happy healing everyone!
