More About the Author

Ben Ebbrell is a professionally trained chef who spends his time cooking with his mates on the UK's largest social media cooking channel... SORTEDFood.com

SORTED was born when Ben, together with a bunch of his old school friends, decided to create a cookery book aimed at the online generation, encouraging people to give it a go and have some fun with food. After two self-published books and hundreds of short video recipes on their website they have launched "Beginners Get... SORTED".

Along with the SORTED crew, Ben has appeared on many national TV and radio programmes, was the winner of a national search for the next celebrity chef on Good Food Channel's 'Market Kitchen' and with SORTED was awarded "Best Online Entertainment Program Online" at the BANFF World Media Awards.

Ben says:

"I'm most at home when in the kitchen. I've always loved experimenting with food and understood very early on that the occasional disaster was all part of the learning process. Once I got that principle straight in my head it was quite liberating - no more fear of failure, just a real appetite for discovering what I can come up with."

"Anyone can grasp the basics of good cooking, and then the fun really starts!"

Join in the fun with Ben and the SORTED crew on their dedicated YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/sortedfood) or their own website @ http://www.sortedfood.com

Product Description

About the Author

Ben Ebbrell and Barry Taylor head up the Sorted crew - a group of childhood friends who got together during their university holidays to share anecdotes, assumptions and problems that they were each facing during their first year away from home. After mocking each other's laughable set of domestic skills in the kitchen, Ben decided to help them out with recipe ideas and 'Sorted' was the result. With Ben cooking and Barry taking photographs and using his design skills, the crew set themselves up on YouTube to upload filmed recipes, as well as self-publishing two recipe books: 'A Recipe for Student Survival' and 'A Rookie's Guide to Crackin' Cooking'. Reworked with Penguin, all the recipes from the books are now contained within this new edition.

It's great having key icons to tell us whether it's cheap to buy the ingredients for each recipe. Also the fact that it's easy to understand the process of how to cook food. Since I'm an extremely novice at cooking, having simple easy words makes life easier. Also the instruction gets straight to the point instead of constantly dragging on like some recipes. Especially when I've tried to cook from other sites which I found hard to understand since the words was complex... Really happy that all of the sorted crew is shown in the book! Also having written basic equipment and food essential for beginners is a real help as I'd know what I'd need to buy for the future when I'm in uni.
Thank you SORTED CREW! You're an amazing bunch of people and will keep supporting you!

As a fifteen year old girl with 2 older sisters both at uni and both parents being avid cooks, I love to cook. All fie of us have never had any sort of training just a brilliant sense of cooking for pleasure rather than fuel and that mistakes lead you to improvements. Although young I love to cook and am very experimental and can hapily cook you a 3 course meal. So please don't disregard my review due to my age. I have possibly 30 cook books and the rest of my family has hundreds meaning I have read loads and I have to say this book is one of my favourites. Just brilliant. Highly recommend it and think it is super. Have been a big fan of the youtube channel a while now and think the boys have done a brilliant job.

This book is fantastic! The layout is fun and friendly but still very simple to read the recipe. The photos throughout make it feel very personal (especially if you watch the sorted boys on youtube - which you should!! [...])
I really like that the recipes vary in difficulty and cost to make. I was worried that it would all just be recipes that are on the website but actually there were a lot that aren't on there and the few that are have a video link so it's easy to follow along online too.
Really love this book and would highly recommend (especially students!)

OK, so you've a young person in the house that wants to cook but doesn't have a clue where to start? They want to make all sorts of fancy things but need to get a grip on basics first? Well try this title by the Sorted Crew. It's a book that's based on their successful V-Blog on You Tube and will more than help guide you through everything from making soups to proper mash. From using cheap cuts of meat to preparing fish and of course bringing everything together to make full three course meals that are not only tasty but filling and nutritious.

Add to this wonderful bright colour images, easy to follow steps and back it up with a selection of something for everyone and all in this book will soon become a household must have for any young chef learning the basics. My only complaint is that I feel that it should have been ring-bound and laminated to make keeping it clean easier. After all, we're all messy even when we're trying to be neat. LOL

I've been a subscriber to their brilliant YouTube channel for quite a while now, and I was so excited to hear about this book! The instructions in the book are simple to follow, much like their YouTube videos. Everything is presented clearly and nicely. I think their recipes are great for all. I'm a second year university student and such a beginner in the kitchen, but with their recipes, I look more like a pro. I even managed to make a delicious soufflé not that long ago by following their recipe!
Their recipes are so easy and simple to follow, not to mention they look very impressive. They make cooking easy and fun. I have never felt out of my depth when following along a recipe of theirs.

I'll be moving back out soon for university and I will be definitely using these recipes. I especially like that they give you a list of essentials (perfect for freshers) and on the recipes there's a symbol for how pricey the recipe will be, great for anyone who's on a tight budget like a student.

I have been watching the Sorted boys' videos since day one. Instantly, I fell in love with all of them (especially Ben!), and since then, I have watched all of their recipe videos!
I don't think there has been one that I haven't liked or felt overwhelmed by, they make cooking fun and simple!

Having built up a good following on Youtube, they launched a website full of recipes and helpful cooking tips, and more recently they are publishing a new recipe video EVERY DAY!

So when I heard that they were releasing a cook book, I was so excited ... I pre-ordered mine from Amazon straight away looking forward to the release date.

It has arrived today and it is amazing!!
Very easy to follow, LOADS of pictures (both of the food and the boys!)
Clearly presented, laid out in sections which are all colour coded.

Perfect for everyone - from students with no cooking experience, to accomplished cooks - there's something for everyone.

This book has come at just the right time for me, as I am moving house and will be having my own kitchen for the first time, so I think it is going to get a lot of use.

I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Note to the boys if they read this: I'm extremely jealous of your jobs (food, computers and cameras) .... basically my dream! :)
