I have always been a fan of the Arabian beats and wonderful evocative eastern music scales..the tiny brief segment in Blade Runner where Deckard chases down the cloned snake maker ' Abdul Ben Hassaaan .. he make this snake' in the bustling manic eastern market of the future LA turned me on to this genre and I pursued 'music from the souks' and other dark casablanca alleyways since...like chinese flute and japanese koto music and scottish bagpipes and indian sitar I have always found the tones and sounds and scales of arabic music entrancing and here is a HUGE 3 CD value collection of pulsating beats and drum backings overlayed with eastern song.. If you are a hip hop fan grab these and listen with increasing familiarity as you realise where the hollywood writers have got their egyptian sounding missy elliot style riffs and tunes from...this is the source, entrancing, engaging and clubby, with chill moments.. a soundtrack to the modern moroccan and casablancan styled club dance scene..you can really improve your music life by listening outside your narrow western pop charts and realise where so many orginal styles emanate from.. it's why early music, market places dances and such sound so similar from Celtic to Italian court dances.. there are just so many archetypal music roots from which everything emanates.. this is a classic example

Turned out to be a really interesting CD set and shows what can be done to traditional music with a modern twist. Excellent and recommended if just starting out listening to world music.

I wanted to get a CD of Arabian music. This 3 CD is a good mix of Club and more chilled out style. It's always a bit of a gamble byuying something new but this one is well worth a go.
