If you have tried Tai Chi in the past and found it too difficult, this is the DVD for you. A true beginner level is presented here. A proper progression is best achieved by taking things slowly and thoroughly. This is a great place to start learning Tai Chi at a beginners pace.
Presented here are 3 routines that can be done separately, together or mixed.
The warm up is a classic Tai Chi Routine for getting started. When people talk about the benefits of Tai Chi it s not only about the Tai Chi Routine itself. It is everything together. The warm up will give you a routine that will strengthen, stretch, relax and harmonise the body and mind.
The Qi Gong routine is a more mindful routine. It s designed to help one get in touch with their own personal energy and how that feels. Moving into the right frame of mind really helps get the most out of a Tai Chi Routine.
The Tai Chi Routine is very minimalist. Each movement is presented with a few repetitions to produce a relaxed harmony of body and mind. The routine uses very little space so can easily be performed in a small space. All essential principles of Tai Chi are presented in the Beginner Tai Chi Routine.
Also presented on this DVD is other forms of Tai Chi. This style of Tai Chi is Sun Style. I chose this style because it lends itself to mindfulness and is quite minimal in its movement. The other Tai Chi Routines are for demonstration of flow and skill.
Tai Chi is translated as Grand Ultimate. This means everything contained in the universe. This name was given after Tai Chi was created. So it is a massive compliment to the art. I love it because it is first and foremost a Skill. It is gentle. We are beings that can live into our 90s. I feel it is best to have an exercise program that respects our bodies and our longevity. It is also one of the few skilful physical arts that can be done for life. Any investment in your time will be beneficial for life not a short-lived skill.
Finally I would like to say that Tai Chi is more gentle exercise that is mindful. This DVD is designed to be hands-on. It is slow and calming. The movements are done slowly with control and skill developing many benefits to the body and mind. Due to the gentle nature of the routines, this is also suitable for seniors.
The follow up DVD is the Beginner Tai Chi Level 2( ASIN 095592362X)
