Actually, I thought it was a bit rubbish.... My daughter is 2 1/2, and I'm now expecting no.2, so this seemed like a great book to help explain what is happening inside me. She loves stories and enjoys asking questions about what we read, so it should have been a great discussion point.
I think the front cover is great, and that is what drew me towards the book, but all the illustrations inside are complex, cartoon-like and accompanied by irritating little rhymes that don't always make much sense. I obviously wasn't expecting a medical textbook, but more simplistic drawings that actually bear some resemblence to what's going on inside would have been helpful!
My daughter was equally unimpressed and has not asked for this book again, unlike 'hello baby' and 'runa's birth' which are her current favourites.
The upshot is that it is a brilliant concept, poorly realised. Any publishers out there want to have a go at an alternative???
