5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 15 Sep 2008
By Sophie
I've waited all year for this book to be released since I first heard the storyline which I thought was amazing. It lives up to every single expectation. Abby walks under a ladder and gets hit on the head and is told she may lose her long term memory. To try and prevent this she makes a list of unforgettable things to do with her life, and her family and friends row in and help too. The items on the list were wonderfully inspiring but I particularly enjoyed Abby's changing relationship with her family and the tender way this was explored. I was also completely gripped by her relationship with Finn and what was going to happen between them, as throughout there was this compelling undertone that something was going to go wrong. Like Melissa Hill's other books, this was a complete pageturner and I just can't figure out how she does it. Fantastic book which I would recommend to anyone. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 4 Nov 2008
By H
This is the first Melissa Hill book I have read, and it didn't disappoint. I could hardly put it down. I was gripped by Abby's story. She has an accident, and afterwards is warned that she is likely to suffer memory loss, though the doctors are unsure as to how bad this will be. There are so many twists. The theme of doing the things you've always wanted to do, Abby's relationship with her various family members and friends, her romance with Finn, and her character generally, as she battles against losing her precious memories, all add up to make a heartwarming story. I'm looking forward to reading more of Hill's books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be put off by the cheesy cover! 31 Aug 2009
Had my reservations about this as the cover is ghastly and the back description doesn't tell you much about what it's really about but a friend has been raving about this author so against my better judgement I decided to give it a try. It was such an inspirational story about Abby who has an accident and will lose her memory. I was fascinated by the medical stuff and on the edge of my seat all throughout when she kept getting lapses and I couldn't wait to find out if she was indeed losing her memory. The love story between Abby and Finn made it even more gripping and their meeting in New York at Christmas was so touching and beautifully described that I got goosebumps reading it. If I'd known that New York was going to be featured in this book I'd have bought it in a heartbeat as I am a sucker for books set there especially at Christmas. All in all a fantastic book and a big surprise for me. My friend was right and I have just ordered another Melissa Hill book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Briliant, Yet again! 24 July 2009
By L.Kel
Despite being a huge Michelle Hill fan I was slightly dubious about this topic- there are several fictional books on the same idea, for example Sophie Kinsella's 'Remember Me? and having read all her other novels I knew full well her talent for turning everything on its head and was sure this time she wouldn't be able to catch me out- yet she did...several times. Her talent for dialect was also particularly clear in this novel, I could constantly hear Finn's dad speaking. I had finished it the day after I bought it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 7 Jan 2009
I got this from the library at Christmas. Not my type of book as I usually go for crime or historical fiction.
The story is unusual with loads of twists I couldn't put it down

Excellent! Only way to describe it.. when I read the back of the book didn't think I would enjoy it but it was very good and huge twist at the end which doesn't disappoint! This is the third or four book of Melissas that I have read and I feel its been the best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Irish Superstar! 27 July 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Another Irish superstar - on a par with Patricia Scanlan, Cathy Kelly and Colette Caddle.

This is my first Melissa Hill novel and I admit that when, after having looked through a list of her novels, due to some of the covers, I did expect a typical chick lit kind of book.

How wrong I was and how I enjoyed the story about Abby and Finn. After an accident, Abby is seriously injured and looses part of her memory. She experiences blackouts and forgets things happenening to her. Trying to accept her new situation, Abby starts writing a diary and to collect photographs and other memorabilia, in order to hold on to her memories.

But trying to build a new life - and preserve new memories before she forgets - prooves to cause both Abby, her family and friends a lot more problems than first anticipated.

Written with intelligence, tenderness and understanding. Melissa Hill knows how to both entertain and present the realities of the situation. "Before I forget" is an intoxicating mélange of facts and dreams, and has got all that little extra something Irish authors are so well known for.

Grateful for having discovered a new favourite author, I have just ordered the rest of her books and take pleasure in recommending her highly to new readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars So romantic! 4 Aug 2009
I've read and enjoyed some of Melissa Hill's other books but I thought this one was a little bit different in that it was so romantic! I finished it within a couple of days of starting it as I literally could not put it down. Melissa Hill's usual twists and turns are there and I was surprised at the twist in this one, yet it made perfect sense. I really loved the storyline and found Abby's to do list very inspiring. But I fell totally and completely head over heels with Finn! Why can't a guy like that exist in real life and if he does where can I find him!! Would recommend this book to anyone.
