5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read 5 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
I ordered this book as I am going through a similar experience. I found this book very moving and it taught me that my feelings towards this illness are the same as many others are experiencing. This book had me in tears, but glad that I read it as I have learned from it. I would definately recommend it.

An excellent read couldnt put it down. It is very well written and gives a frank account of her life so far and also tells the very sad story of living with her mothers illness and then finding out that her father now has the same illness after her mother has died.
Gives you something to think about and makes you think about your own life and that maybe things arent so bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Before I forget by Fiona Phillips 22 Oct 2010
By Liz
Format:Hardcover
My mum has dementia and is now down to 5 stone, she also went blind 10 years ago, to read this story is so heart rendering, but it tells the true feeling of someone who has been through it twice, it doesn;t get easier, you just wish you could do something to let them go in dignity, and you also want to remember them as they were and not what they have become.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb and Touching 29 Sep 2010
Format:Hardcover
I read this book in a week, I literally couldn't put it down. It's an honest account of Fiona's life so far which made me both laugh and cry. You don't have to have personal experience of Alzheimer's to be affected by this story....I will treasure my Mum and Dad every day from now on.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lovely read.. 6 Jan 2011

Before I Forget
This was a good book. Very informative of the early growing up days of Fiona and her brother. Quite sad at times and very open of the moments Fiona could account when or maybe things went difficult for her parents with there progression into Alzhiemers.
I would recommend to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really moving and brilliant 4 May 2012
By Holly
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Im not really much of a reader which really says so much about how good this book is.
I couldnt put it down. It is really sad in parts but funny as well.
Alzheimers is such a cruel disease. It robs the sufferer of everything and for Fiona Phillips it robbed her of her mum and dad.
Buy it, its worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Depends what you're looking for 3 Mar 2011
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book because I am researching Alzheimer's and other age-related diseases.

It's a very touching and honest story, but the writing is very amateurish and I must admit I got tired of the constant self-pitying (although again admired her for the honesty). There were quite a few little interesting (and extremely sad) accounts of the effects of dementia on her parents, but really the book is her autobiography; much more about her work and life than anything else.

An interesting little read, probably very enjoyable for a fan of hers and certainly useful for someone going through a similar situation with elderly parents.

The book was interesting. I thought it would be more about her parents but it was more like an autobiography and dealt with a lot of her childhood.
