Useful book but a blatent use of the Mrs. Beeton name to sell copies. This book was not written by Isabella Beeton at all.
It was written or edited by her husband's publishing company along with lots of other books with the Beeton prefix.
I cannot believe that the publishers have got away with saying it was written by Isabella Beeton, much of the content also refers to machinery and innovations that occured after the death of Mrs and Mr Beeton.
I almost used this as a useful link between her cookery book and the growth of food for an exhibition - I'm glad it didn't take it at face value.

Mrs Beeton's Gardening Companion can also double as a door stop, it is sooo huge. The utterly amazing Isabella Beeton wrote millions upon millions of helpful words in her household management tomes; ran and managed a large household and then, tragically, died at the young age of 28. I am in awe of this woman and am ashamed to admit that I have achieved only a tiny percentage of her goals - and I am 68 !!!
I would recommend this brilliant book to EVERYONE over the age of 15 - and not just women.
