Amazon.co.uk Review

Put Charles Grodin together with a 200-pound Saint Bernard and you're likely to come up with some good laughs. In this popular family comedy from 1992 Grodin plays a beleaguered dad who reluctantly lets his kids keep the lost puppy they've adopted. The dog quickly grows into the huge and clever hound named Beethoven. In a marked departure from his nice-guy roles in several Disney comedies from the 1960s and '70s, Dean Jones plays the villainous veterinarian who abducts Beethoven to be a subject in his sadistic animal experiments. The kidnapping sets the stage for a raucous rescue and, of course, an inevitable sequel. Innocuous but harmlessly entertaining, Beethoven is one of those movies that some kids can't get enough of. --Jeff Shannon

In my quest to find the pinnacle of dog performance, my eye was drawn to beethoven, the slobbering st bernard. With a combination of addictive jaunty music and quirky one liners, i have found beethoven to be a heart warming story of a family in crisis, saved by a canine angel. With cameo apperances from sci-fi legend David Duchovny and Ray Barone's wife the topical issues within the air freshner industry are highlighted and are shown how these problems can be resolved if you own a st bernards dog. This is a film to be enjoyed by both young and old and stands as a beautiful ending to any intoxicating evening.

Roll over beethoven!!

Classic, fun family film which everyone will love. My 4 year old loves this film even though it's been around from my childhood days. And unlike alot of other films it's does'nt seem to get old even if it is the 40th time you've watched it. Would definately recommend to any parents looking for good honest entertainment.
