AMM Rock Out! 24 Jan 2002
By Tom - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
As the previous reviewer pointed out this is quite an unusual AMM release, only Rowe and Prevost were involved. Not only that but Keith Rowe actually plays some fairly straight (relatively speaking of course) guitar - in a paint-stripping electric jazz-rock mode, not quite the Mahavishnu Orchestra , but closer than you might think! Meanwhile Eddie Prevost lays off bowing his cymbals to play some thunderous jazz drums at points. All in all, this might not be what people expect from AMM but it's pretty great nonetheless.

Improvisatory music 1 Dec 2001
By "svalkw" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
One of two AMM recordings that seem to be oddities in their discography (the other being 'To Hear and Back Again' w/ the duo of Prevost and saxophonist Lou Gare). The lineup here only consists of Prevost and Rowe. Rowe is playing mostly conventional electric guitar here in a very rocking improv mood(perhaps due to that he was a part of Trevor Watt's Amalagam rock/jazz group at the time) however there are areas with various prepared techniques and the transistor radio (a broadcast fragment states the title of this recording). Both players are still quite great here, yet it doesn't quite stack up to other recordings in the AMM catalog. Rowe's playing seems to draw-up to the same lineage to the likes of Derek Bailey, Sonny Sharrock & Ray Russell, where otherwise his playing remained unique free from any sort of reference to the traditional guitar playing. With all that it is still a very worthwhile recording to find...
