Just picked up this book at the library. Read it tonight to my two boys (2&5). You know a book is good when you have to read it three times in a row. The story is great, the pictures are great and the words are great too. Lots of lovely onomatopoeic words like gloop and schloop. The story is a little scary at first, so perhaps not suitable for any children suffering from nightmares, but the final pages are hilarious, sending my boys away squealing and giggling with delight. This is a particularly good book for Dads to read as there are plenty of opportunities for silly voices. (Not for second am I suggesting that Mum's can't do silly voices too!). Highly recommended.

Having read this book once in a book shop it was instantly on my wish list! The book is beautifully illustrated and not as scary as the title suggests. As a primary school teacher I would certainly recommend this book.

Well he does. Nice story. Scary at first then a big fun ending. Pictures are good. Need more words to finish off but cannot really talk about character development as there is not much.
