The item is very good for the money. I haven't found any other co-sleepers for much under £180, so when I ordered this cot I was a bit apprehensive, but I'm glad that I did. The cot is made of wood (pine?), and the base for the mattress is a manufactured wood, but that's OK as you never see it! The casters are plastic, but we haven't used them. As the cot isn't as tall as our bed we've stood it on a base, so that plus the fact that we've got the extension slotted under our mattress meant the it wasn't really necessary to use the casters.
ONE THING TO BEAR IN MIND -- The cot doesn't come with a proper mattress!! It comes with two sizes of covering, depending whether you have the extension or the bars on. But they are similar to mattress protectors, like elasticated padding, which isn't enough cushioning on top of a wooden board. I knew about this from another review so I'm not upset about it, I'd already found a mattress online for about a tenner. The thing is, the extension slots under my mattress on a divan bed, so the mattress I buy needs to be the height (or there abouts) of my mattress. Again not a problem, if I need to I can bump up the height with some towels or something underneath the cot mattress.
Lastly, the extras that come with the cot aren't great quality, but they're free as far as I'm concerned to I'm not upset about that either. £80 for the cot is reasonable so that is just a perk. The bumper is OK and the curtain too. I also found it a bit tricky sussing out how to attach the curtain pole but I managed it somehow! Also, don't over screw the bolts, I did that on one bit and it pushed to plug in the hole to far in so that it won't tighten anymore, but it doesn't matter that it's loose as it's the base which is secure anyway. Just a warning so no-one else does it though!
Hope this helps!!
