Product Description

From the Inside Flap

Masquerading in lamb’s clothing, the Bedlington Terrier is a hard-as-nails, plucky terrier’s terrier, whose charming appearance has attracted and surprised many a dog lover. Hailing from the Border Counties, the Bedlington Terrier makes an active, first-class companion for the right home and family. Although the breed’s popularity has never matched that of many other terriers, the breed possesses many astounding virtues that recommend him to dog lovers. When given proper training and rearing, the Bedlington can excel at any dog sport, from showing and agility to flyball and terrier trials. For a family seeking a watchdog, children’s dog, weekend sportsdog and devoted companion, the Bedlington Terrier has a lion’s share of talent, courage and affection to offer. This book provides the much-needed factual information about the Bedlington Terrier and its ancestry, character and standard, as well as proper selection, feeding, basic obedience and house-training and preventative health care. The new owner will welcome advice about puppy-proofing the home, general safety and preventing potential puppy problems, such as chewing and separation anxiety. In addition to an authoritative, lively text, this book presents over 135 photographs in full colour, which prove to be as informative as they are attractive. Helpful hints and important information are highlighted to provide easy access to everything the reader needs to know about life with a Bedlington Terrier. Whether it’s basic training, allergies or fleas, this book is the way to prevention, providing the reader with the necessary guidance an owner needs from puppyhood through the senior years. Recommended by top breeders and trainers, this book is the responsible first choice of every new owner of a Bedlington Terrier. Topics discussed include: History of the Bedlington Terrier; Characteristics of the Bedlington Terrier; The Bedlington Terrier Breed Standard; The Bedlington Terrier puppy; Everyday care of your Bedlington Terrier; Training your Bedlington Terrier; Health care of your Bedlington Terrier; Your senior Bedlington Terrier.

Have you ever seen a dog being walked on the street by his master and thought, 'What is that? It looks like a lamb!' That adorable 'lambkin' is the Bedlington Terrier. Although he may look like a lamb, this is a dog that is all terrier, one who has the heart of a lion but is a charming, gentle and first-class companion. Although he is most often now a loyal companion for his family, his original terrier instincts have not been lost. He will be equally at home on a country estate chasing a rabbit or in a London flat lounging about with his owner. The Bedlington Terrier may not be the dog for everyone, as terriers are active, busy dogs and this dog is no exception. However, if you like a plucky dog, one who fits easily into most any lifestyle, this may be just the one for you.

top dog book 26 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
This is an excellent book, it covers everything you need to know about your Bedlington terrier including grooming, feeding, training, health etc.
We have just bought a puppy and we feel this is going to be invaluable to us as folk who are new to Bedlingtons. There is a wealth of information about this delightful breed including the history. The book has numerous illustrations advice and tips to make owning a Bedlington something to look forward to.

a very good comprehensive guide to bedlington terriers for the average pet owner,it should though have a bit of info on copper toxicosis which is quite prevalent among bedlingtons, a better book is The Bedlington Terrier by ken bounden. The Bedlington Terrierhowever this book does give basic info into the breed and is well worth the money.

A Kennel Club Book, the Bedlington 28 Oct 2009
By Spikey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have read many books in this particular series (Bedlington terrier, Pembroke welsh corgi, Cavalier king charles spaniel) and have found their recipe for making these books: General info on breed, breed history, popular advocates, a little bit about common hereditary diseases, then general grooming/feeding/wellness/activities/training that apply to all breeds of dog. A nice book for the novice (it does talk briefly about copper toxicosis and has very lovely pictures), but for the die-hard Bedlington enthusiast, The Official Book of the Bedlington Terrier is the book to beat.
Very nice book 14 Jan 2008
By William H. MacElroy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I was very pleased with this book, which I gave as a gift to someone who has Bedlingtons. The reaction was very positive and the recipient mentioned that there were numerous helpful and interesting facts that he had not found in other Bedlinton books. The pictures and illustrations were very nicely done.
