5.0 out of 5 stars Very comprehensive guide to the QL 3 Jan 2012
Format:Hardcover
I had been looking for this out of print book ever since Airfix announced its new 1/76 scale kits. It is well written and illustrated - most of the photographs are not ones I have seen before - though sources of photographs on British softskins are limited.

The book covers the prototyes and the history of development of the QL and all its variants - QLD, QLB, QLT etc. Wartime and postwar use is covered and the most interesting photgraph is of a QLB bofors AA gun tractor with the cab roof removed in the western desert.

Anyone wanting to model the Airfix QL (or its variants using the Milicast conversion sets) will find this a very useful reference source - which will also satisfy anyone more broadly interested in the lorries used by the British army in WWII. Well written guides like this are few and far between.

There are a comprehensive set of plans at the end of the book - though not 1/48 or 1/76 scale.

One wonders if the publisher would consider a re-print now that interest in this vehicle has been rekindled.
