Very inspiring,
By A Customer
This review is from: Bed and Table Linen: Professional Skills Made Easy (Soft Furnishing Workshops) (Paperback)
Starting off very informational with suggestions for how to choose fabrics, patterns, and colors, the book continues with very inspirational ideas. All projects deal with how to take measurements and offer suggestions for fabrics and other materials/utensils you may need, such as ribbons, beads, fabric stiffeners etc. It is almost like reading a receipe :) Each project is given clear instructions on how to measure, cut and what stitches are suitable in regards to wear and tear.Projects include: Tablecloths, placemats, napkins, and even picnic accessories such as very nice cutlery-wraps! I want to make those myself! I might even adapt that idea into making a combined cutlery-wrap/napkin to be used at the table, not only at picnics! Further, other projects are: Sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and some cusions, quilts and bed-spreads, and ideas for patchworks. There are also instructions on how to make lampshades! This book covers a lot in its 78 pages, and there are plenty of ideas for decorative edges, stitches, hems, a little on embroidery, and even a glossary of fabrics, and technical terms. I have also discovered many clever tips that I did not know about, but then again, I am not an expert. But I feel I will be. All pictures are beautiful, putting every project in very inspiring contexts. I have already decided on a number of projects I want to undertake. The instructions are typically accomplished with scetches. Very appealing little book. I would say it is great for beginners, but would probably offer something, if not inspiration, to you who are more advanced. The price is just excellent value.

This is an excellent practical guide to sewing home linens, especially for someone who has never made them before.
