Wish something like this had been around when I applied to do my training. Takes you through the process step by step as it can be a bit of a headache! Ellie's down-to-earth approach is comical and easy reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want to be a midwife read this first! 18 Jun 2014
By Gemma
Format:Kindle Edition
I underestimated just how difficult it would be to get into midwifery.
As a mature student completing an access to higher education course I was top in my class gaining mainly distinction grades. I wrote what I thought was a good personal statement and applied to 5 universities.

I didn't get any interviews, let alone offers!

I had presumed that my life experience and grades would be enough to get me in and I was wrong. After reading this book I realised I had made many mistakes that cost me my place at uni this year. I will be reapplying but wish this book had been available when I was applying the first time, I would probably already be a student midwife.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any aspiring midwife! 23 Sep 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Reading this book has given me so much more confidence in my application and for my interviews; I only wish I'd read it before last years application! It is filled with top tips and advice on your application from beginning to write your personal statement, to the interview day itself. I found the ways in which you can calm your nerves and still succeed at interview particularly useful. I only wish I could buy a hard copy of the book!
Ellie's website midwifediaries.com is also full of top down to earth advice on your application.

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Im looking to apply next year to go to uni in 2016. Being a mature student going back to studying is scary and needed good positive helpful advice in getting in uni and general info about midwifery. This book is perfect is easy to read and answers all my questions. Its hard to find books that have all this information in or even so just to be able to understand it all. Highly recommend to anyone wanted to be a midwife.:-)

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for any would be midwifery students 30 Aug 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Anyone looking to enter midwifery knows how tough it is to land a place at university, with the applicants to places ratio verging on ridiculous. Ellie's book is in my opinion a must read for those hoping to gain that coveted place.
From the role of a midwife, to personal statements and the interview process, Ellie gives the reader a valuable insight into what the universities are looking for. Highly recommended.

Ellis I would just like to say a huge thank you for taking the time and sharing your knowledge in what can only be described as a book that doesn't disappoint and is a delight to read. I feel like my rationale for choice and all the ideas that were whirring round my head have become so much clearer now. Thanks again

My friend recommended this after I shown an interest in the studies and processes you go through to become a certified midwife.

I have found this book great so far. It goes into such detail, there really isn't any other books out there like this. I especially liked the information given on the interview questions and process. Always an incredibly nerve-racking situation, so it's great to get an insight into the questions that might be asked.

Fantastic book

Amazing book. I would definitely suggest this text as a starting point for anyone even vaguely interested in the field of midwifery. It's practical and informative, but also comical and easy to relate to. I had this recommended to me by a fellow student, and I wouldn't hesitate to, in turn, recommend this to others!
