Book Description

21 Jan 2010 0340976551 978-0340976555
Meet Scarlett O'Hara. In her life, everything goes according to plan. Until now . . .

Now, Scarlett is back in her childhood home with her plan in tatters and a baby on the way, while John Smith - actuary, proper grown-up and Scarlett's boyfriend - has left her to join an archaeological dig in a tiny village somewhere in Brazil.
But that's not the worst bit.

The worst bit is she can't be sure who the father of the baby is . . . even though she's slept with exactly four-and-a-half men in her entire 35 years.

As a distraction, Scarlett throws herself into her job as a wedding planner, but even that's not going smoothly. Because of her growing feelings for her most important client's husband-to-be . . .

In the end it's the person she thought she knew best - herself - who surprises her the most. Join Scarlett as she tries, for the first time ever, to navigate life without a plan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable chick lit with a bit of a twist 4 May 2011
Format:Paperback
I had never read any Ciara Geraghty books before, and really enjoyed this introduction to her work. Like another reviewer it did take me a little while to get into but I eventually became engrossed in the story line. The characters are really well drawn in it, even if some of the supporting characters are a little exaggerated. The plot device of the Gone with the Wind references also worked really well. The research was also evident in references to neo natal intensive care, and the author provided a real sense of the emotional turmoil of giving birth and everthing that comes with it. I found the closing chapters of the book quite moving, and I would defiinitley recommend this book if your are into chick lit with a bit of a twist.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable... 26 Jun 2011
By LittleReader VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I loved 'Saving Grace' and think I was hoping for more of the same with CG's latest offering. Unfortunately I have been left slightly disappointed...
I really liked Scarlett - she was funny and honest and normal and well written. I liked Filly and Red and John and Sofia and Blue and Maureen etc etc etc and the plot was interesting and meaty... Im struggling to be honest to put my finger on why this novel was just so 'average'... I suspect that the magic within the pages of her debut did not materialise here - the narrative is very different and therefore the tone and feel of the book too - and sometimes it tried a little too hard to be funny or poignant or dramatic. And that for me was the clincher - my expectations were possibly too high.
I will definately read her next but will hope it's more like her debut than this one...
